    05:05 p.m.

I hope everyone had a happy, jolly Christmas! My mom made a gigantic dinner of roast pork, tilapia filets, sauteed broccoli with yellow rice and vegetables and you have no idea how stuffed I am right now from all that eating! Not to mention the martinis my sister Nithi made with the new martini set she bought my dad! :) I'm relaxing now with a cup of Celestial Seasoning's Cookie Sleigh Ride tea (it's a yummy dessert-type tea). Everyone loved my presents and I scored gift cards to Forever21, H&M (from Mekha) and Borders bookstore as well as 2 gift sets of Victoria Secret's Rapture perfume/lotion/bath set and a gorgeous astrological calendar :D WOO HOO!! :D and I spent HOURS making these beautiful gingerbread cookies! I took a picture of them below:

They took a long time to make but they're so pretty and were fun to ice! :D

Last night we went to our church program and my sister Mili took pics of the purple "lacha" (lecha?) I wore:

It's a quarter past 5pm this Christmas night and it's been a lovely holiday. I took mummy and Nithi to see The Apple Tree on Saturday and it was SO GOOD! It was everything I expected and more! Kristin Chenoweth is just amazing. Her vocals and acting ability - she should win a Tony for this one too because she made me laugh and cry numerous times. After the show, I took them next door to a mexican restaurant called IGUANA's. Very yummy food and beautiful decor. It was perfect for us. If you ever go there, try the salmon and for appetizers, definitely get the blue crab cakes! GAWD were they good! We had dessert of chocolate cake and walked around the city before heading back home. Was a beautiful night :)

My sisters, Mekha, Mili, Nithi, and I are deciding now whether to go to a friend's house for a Christmas party. I'm so full I just wanna stay home and watch a movie and relax - I have work tomorrow. The girls though all have tomorrow off so they should go and enjoy themselves. I already had a martini and have like a gazillion calories to burn this week ;) I'll stay home ;) or maybe not. I dunno. I'll take a hot shower now and see how I feel ;)

*HUGS* and a Happy Holiday to Kayla, Memory, Jade, Millie, ML, HeartMonger, Sarah Beth, Lisa, Lydia, Marcia, Lorie, Callie, Sean, Dan, Sanoj, Azure Kaze, Susan, Ramona, Darlene (and even to the spammers who love to spam my tag-board).

See ya'll tomorrow or later this week!

    Twas the night before christmas
    Sunday, December 24, 2006
    11:03 p.m.

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

I thought you guys might enjoy that :D

If you phone this FREE number: 1-800-555-TELL (8355) and say 'SANTA' when the recording comes on, Santa will tell you where in the States or the world he is as he travels on this Christmas Eve. I phoned around 4:30/5 and he was feeding his reindeer protein bars to give them strength, and then Ricky phoned him 5 minutes later and a snowball fight had broken out ;) LOL! We all got a kick out of that!

Lastly, I found this site too late to order them for this christmas, but if you want to taste and know what sugar plums are like, Andy's Orchard ships beautiful "sugar plums" to you and his site explains what they are :)

I got back home from our Church's evening service and program and it was lovely! I'll tell you guys all about the APPLE TREE and our Christmas weekend and everything tomorrow :D For now, everyone have a WONDERFUL, JOYOUS CHRISTMAS (if you celebrate or not)! :D

    Let the Festivities Begin!
    Saturday, December 23, 2006
    10:22 a.m.

LOL! :) I love the Family Circus :)

Holiday fever is in full swing at my house right now. Sisters are popping in and out and I just finished reading the paper, having my breakfast, and am going to put a pot of coffee on and watch the news and some tv before getting ready to go see:

I'm taking my mom and my younger sister Nithi to the show today. The Apple Tree stars one of my favorite performers: Kristin Chenoweth (*loved* her in WICKED). She plays 3 distinct roles in 3 different one-act plays as Eve, Princess Barbara and Ella in musicals based on Mark Twain's The Diary of Adam and Eve, Frank R. Stockton's "The Lady or the Tiger?" and Jules Feiffer's "Passionella", respectively. Can't wait!!! I love going to see shows in the city :D

It's almost 60 degrees here - at the end of December no less! I love this weather! However, I was reading that from January to March we're going to have the worst winter ever with more volatile storms and more freezing temperatures. Well, at least we had a beautiful fall! :)

Here's something interesting - have any of you guys seen Ben Stiller's NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM? It's the movie about the exhibits at the Museum of Natural History here in Manhattan coming alive at night. Well at AMNH here in Manhattan they're letting kids and parents sleep-over and experience a Night at the Museum! :) During the night, the kids are allowed to go through some of the exhibits and get take a flashlight tour of the dinosaur sections!! How cool is that!? I wish I had kids right now so I could take them there!!! :D :D :D

Ok folks *HUGS* to all! Amy/HeartMonger you are so amazing! Seriously! Send me your mailing address and I shall mail you some gingerbread cookies after I've made them! :)

    Twas the Friday Before Christmas
    Friday, December 22, 2006
    8:28 p.m.

I did it!!! I am READY for Christmas! Every thing's wrapped and under the tree! My sisters don't read my blog regularly so I won't worry about them reading what I got them for Christmas and can tell you. I got my sister Nithi Japanese Akoya cultured pearls from AmericalPearl.com and got her an engraved heart-shaped silver jewelry box to put the pearls in from ThingsRemembered.com and a gift card from her fave clothing store, Express; For Mili I got her a necklace and engraved silver jewelry box also from ThingsRemembered.com as well as a card from NY&Company and one of their adorable stuffed bears I know she'll love; and, for Mekha, I got her Talladega Nights on DVD and a beautiful GAMMA DIAMOND Tennis Racket cause she wanted one - I plan to take her out for a movie and dinner too! :) For my dad, I got him the DEAL OR NO DEAL electronic game and my mom's gift is tomorrow when I take her to see the Broadway Musical 'The Apple Tree' in the city and for lunch either before the show or dinner after.

This shall be a crazy holiday weekend - we have a church function at night to go to tomorrow right after the musical and church all day Sunday with the Christmas Program that night and then it's full family time Monday and back to work Tuesday. Whew! Tonight is the only free night I'll have before the madness I think ;) I need to return some phone calls and get a lot of Christmas planning underway. I found a TERRIFIC recipe for gingerbread cookies I'm going to make!

Check out the recipe from Simply Recipes @ Elise.com.

Yesterday was the 1st Day of Winter: December 21, 2006. I love observing the winter solstice - it has such beautiful meaning behind it. Solstice means "sun standing still." In the Northern Hemisphere, it is the first day of winter, the shortest day and longest night of the year, occurring on the 20th, 21st or 22nd of December.

To pagans, winter solstice was the night that the Great Mother Goddess gave birth to the new sun, restarting the cycle of the seasons. It is also called Yule, the day a huge log - the Yule Log - is added to a bonfire, around which everyone would dance and sing to awaken the sun from its long winter sleep. In Roman times, it became the celebrations honouring Saturnus (the harvest god) and Mithras (the ancient god of light), a form of sun worship that had come to Rome from Syria a century before with the cult of Sol Invictus. It announced that winter is not forever, that life continues, and an invitation to stay in good spirit. (From: http://www.didyouknow.cd/xmas/solstice.htm

    Interesting huh?

I just took a long hot shower and am going to lotion up and settle in for the night. But first, THANK YOU to the wonderful sweet msgs from: Memory, Kayla, Sarah Beth, Millie, HeartMonger, Susan, Jade, Callie, Sean, Marcia, Lydia, Bunny, Lorie and Caroline! *HUGGGGGGGGGGGGSSSSSS*

Memory your myspace page is AWESOME! I've been wanting to see the Fountain and Apocolypto SOOOOOOOOO MUCH! The Fountain was something I was looking forward to from the very first preview! HeartMonger Amy I'm so sorry I haven't been able to get back to you sooner. I've been very busy this week. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to you on everything tonight - if not, maybe Christmas day!? Kayla I plan on seeing An Oak Tree next week actually - I'll let you know how it is :) Sarah Beth *HUGS* I adore you, you know that? :) I loved your msg and it's so romantic that your Dad had the mold broken for ur mom's ring so no one else could ever have a design like her ring. Callie yup I read it in this morning's paper about her new title - very excited for that new book! :) Sean WOAH NELLY did you write me a NOVEL. How did you manage to write all that to me in the tiny little text box I have there? First, in response, congrats on Finals being over! You've successfully made it through another semester! :D Second, Montana mountain driving DOES sound horrible! Good lord those poor people in their cars! I'm glad YOU are safe! Platinum I learned from an older friend is actually very soft and will rub and wear away - he said it's better to get a stronger material like white gold. Bunny that's what one of my older friends, Bill, is going to do for me - take me to the Diamond District here in Manhattan and help me shop for an actual diamond to build the ring I want for my engagement :) Lorie OMG! I'll be happy to see you engaged! I hope you come soon to NYC so I can show you around! Caroline-chan I didn't think 5K was too much either! ;) *HUGS* God bless your soul!

Ok I am officially out now! See ya'll tomorrow! :)

    --- edited ----

I've been eyeing some rings...I love Tiffany's Legacy Engagement Ring and the Tiffany's Legacy Wedding Band. The engagement ring costs over $4000! I'm willing to contribute to my own engagement ring actually - I'll pay half towards a ring that's my dream ring.

However.....I also found this ring below on shenoadiamonds.com and it's $1,000 more and is pretty much my dream ring:

2.00 CT PRINCESS CUT DIAMOND ANTIQUE ENGAGEMENT RING 18 K WHITE GOLD - SKU: R27400206 - Price for Sz. 4: $5,325.00

The 1 below is WAAAYYYY impossible to ever reasonably afford - this goes on the 'if I ever strike it mega-rich' list ;) LOL!

4.73 CT DIAMOND ANTIQUE ENGAGEMENT RING PLATINUM - SKU: R14208418 - Price for Sz. 4: $16,839.00

I don't think I'll be lucky enough to get my dream ring....even if I contributed to it....$5,300 may be too expensive :( So I tried to search for a ring that was inexpensive and I found lots of rings for as cheap as 100....some decent, affordable ones in the 500-1800 range but they were all rings that I hated. They had ugly settings and shapes and cuts I just hated. Out of the ones I searched for that were available in size 4, the one below is the only one I could find that I would 'settle for' - a solitaire diamond in platinum setting. Simple & plain but pretty. But if you know me, you know I'm not simple or plain ;)

    0.25 Ct Platinum Round Diamond Solitaire Ring - Better Quality - H / SI-1 - SKU: SR-RBC-0100-PLAT-B

    Sz. 4 at .25 CT: $655.00
    Sz. 4 at .33 CT: $855.00
    Sz. 4 at .50 CT: $1,170.00
    Sz. 4 at .75 CT: $1,720.00
    Sz. 4 at 1.00 CT: $3,290.00

I'm not a very materialistic girl, nor do I need thousands of dollars worth of diamonds on my finger for the one I love to show me he loves me....but I *do* want to know that the one I love would get me the ring I love the most because that's how much I'm worth to him.

The ring isn't just a ring....it's a symbol of how much he loves you and how much you're worth to him. But sometimes, the one you love could be worth millions to you and you just can't afford the ring that's worthy of her. But if you let her know that in time, you'll get her dream ring for her - then, a lesser ring for the time being wouldn't be so bad!

god I almost had a freak out because I thought I lost the best pair of leather gloves I've ever owned! Last month I bought these beautiful pair of Kenneth Cole beige leather gloves that - quite actually - fit me like a glove! I have small hands so most gloves never fit me right. These cost $58 but were well worth it because they're leather with cashmere lining. And they're just visually stunning. If I'm gonna pay a lot of money for something - they better not be plain-Jane - they better be unique looking and very stylish.

Well, last week when it got to 18 degrees, I wore them while driving and shopping and didn't see them since. I had NO idea where I put them - convinced I may have left them at work or thrown them out with the bags when I cleaned up this past weekend or maybe lost them on the train. I searched all my bags and coat pockets this past weekend, searched again earlier this week, asked my mom if she'd seen them on any of the tables downstairs and I gave them up as lost and was cursing my stupid carelessness. I decided now to check kennethcole.com and found they only had the beige gloves in large and x-large! I checked their search box for stores carrying the beige gloves in small and nothing! Nada! I scoured my room like crazy just now and was really cursing myself for being so careless with an expensive item like that when lo and behold, they were in my belt drawer. How in the heck I was so out of it to have put them in my belt drawer!?

I just tucked them safely back into my dresser drawer and am promising myself to be more careful with my things! If I ever lost these I'd probably never find a pair like them again that fit so well. Neither ebay nor any other site had these pair in my size. I'm so glad I didn't lose them after all! :)

It's after 10pm and I meant to write something much more substantial and relevant like about that horrible Ahmadinejad - Iran's president - and his Holocaust denial conference. It makes me SICK that such an evil man is in power in the middle east. I was watching David Letterman last night and he had a funny intro joke where he said that yesterday was the 3 year anniversary of when we captured Saddam. And he was like "This is an anniversary, you know what happened in 2003, on this day in 2003? We found Saddam Hussein. Remember that? And isn’t it nice that since Saddam Hussein has been captured, we haven’t had to worry about terrorism or nuts with nuclear weapons?”

    :)

Ok I'm out. Good night everyone! *HUGS* to Kayla, Azure Kaze, Memoru, Jade, ML, Lorie, Marcia, Millie, Amy, Sarah Beth, Lydia, Sean and anyone who I may have left out inadvertantly! I'll respond to msgs tomorrow night :)

    Plays & Musicals
    Tuesday, December 12, 2006

I love them. Plays and musicals, that is. This month, and as soon as this weekend, I'm going to see the very much talked about play An Oak Tree on Barrow Street and The Apple Tree starring Kristin Chenoweth (one of my favorite singers). Odd I'm going to see 2 plays about trees ;)

"An oak tree is the story of two men brought together by loss: a father whose daughter has been killed in a car accident and the driver of that car, a stage hypnotist. For the first time since the accident these two men meet, when the father volunteers for the hypnotist’s act…Tim Crouch plays the Hypnotist. The Father, however, is played by a different guest actor each and every time – male or female. They walk on stage having neither seen nor read a word of the play they’re in…until they’re in it! This is a breath-taking projection of a performance, given from one actor to another, from a hypnotist to his subject, from an audience to a person."

I heard about this play on Regis & Kelly the other night as I watched my pre-recorded tape of that morning's episode. Kelly's husband Mark was one of the guest actors who played the father. The play sounds SO freakin' interesting. Can't wait to see it.

And as for the Apple Tree - that is going to be one heck of an amazing musical. I saw pictures from the movie and read spoilers about what the show is about. I think I might take my mom to see it as a Christmas gift. I got an email giving 50% off discount tickets for it! :)

Kayla LOL! You ARE insane! :) And very funny! :) I hope something wonderful comes out of it! :) heartmonger Amy that must be you! :) Thank you! :) God bless you! ML what kind of new job are you looking for? I'm sorry your hours got cut! :( Azure Kaze I'm sorry I'm responding to this so late! No they don't have to be any size - just needs to show your full face :)

I'm off to watch today's ep of Regis & Kelly and then to write more of a children's magical story I dreamt up many years ago and am finally writing.

Every year, New York City has an annual Homeless Shelter Coat Drive. You can donate your gently used old coats to thousands of homeless people this winter by bringing your old coats to any NYC Police Precinct or taking it to Grand Central Terminal's Graybar Passage or to Penn Station or to the Port Authority at the 42nd Street Main Concourse. There are other places too, like the W Hotel at Union Square. I have a couple old coats that I no longer use and which are just taking up room in my closet. Good cause - good karma! :) For more information and on other places to drop of your old coats, go to NYCares.org.

I just bought an organic vegetable pizza at Stop & Shop on my way home and baked it in the oven right now. Smells so so so good! :) Time for dinner and tv! It was FREEZING cold outside today - 18 degrees when I left the house and the wind was SO fierce - it's only 24 degrees now. Luckily this weekend will warm up to 50 degrees and be in the 50's next Monday and Tuesday! :D

Jade I'm glad you enjoyed it! I wanna see your results! :) Lydia ok babe :) Let's do a holiday dinner somewhere when you get back! Marcia like I said, Leo Tolstoy's got your nose ;) HUGS to Kayla, Azure Kaze, Lorie and Sarah Beth :)

Wow - thanks to Sarah Beth for posting this wicked cool thing:

Apparently, I look a lot like Asian celebrities ;)

And with THIS photo below I got *WIDE EYES* Madonna!

It's a really cool little thing :) Try it! But don't give your social security number (click 'no thanks' when that screen comes up) and I'd advise changing your birth year and birth date and your name. You never who runs this thing.

My deposition this morning went very well - I love doing them :) Afterwards, I went to Grand Central to get lunch and while there browsed through the holiday market they have indoors and there are some really cool stores this year like the Blooming Company. The amazing light and decoration show was running all through the central hub of the station with the music - I love, love, LOVE Christmas in NY :)

Had Starbuck's 'Soy Peppermint Mocha, no foam, no whip' today and it was SOOOOOOO yumm! :)

It's late and I still need to shower and get ready for bed. See ya'll later! *HUGS* I'll respond to everyone's msgs tomorrow night! :)

    07:38 a.m.

good morning :) I feel a lot better having slept! :) It's a chilly 28 degrees and I just opened the curtains and am looking out at the beautiful colors of the sun's rising reflected on the lake. I have the morning news on and it's fun to watch the traffic jams at the Lincoln & Holland Tunnels into the city while knowing I'm happy in my home upstate ;) The Today Show just showed a crowd of people lined up outside in this cold weather by the NBC studio cameras at Rockefeller Center. I always walk by there to get to Kinokuniya and totally take for granted that NBC is there and here are people lining up to say hello via the Today Show ;) It's such a beautiful morning, even if it IS 28 degrees ;) I'm off to shower and have breakfast and get ready to go to that deposition. A deposition, for those who don't know, is an examination before trial of a witness under oath - in this case, I'll be taking the deposition of a plaintiff - someone who claims to have been injured in an accident and is now sueing. I represent the driver of the taxi in whose vehicle the plaintiff was a passenger in when the accident occurred. Ok must go now! See ya'll tonight :)

    08:58 p.m.

I am officially, and totally, and completely sleepy. And I sooo wanted to stay up and watch the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show too - too damned sleepy for that now. I'm doing a deposition tomorrow morning at 10am so I don't have to wake up early...I can leave the house at 8:30 instead. Woo hoo! :)

It's winter like you wouldn't believe now - freezing temps are here! And while I hate the cold, I love December in NY! I walked past Bryant Park tonight on my way to Grand Central Station and browsed through the stores and stopped and watched the people skating at the ice rink there. There's a huge christmas tree up and I just can't believe how gorgeously festive the place looks! It's absolutely MAGICAL! I took pictures on my cellphone and will upload them tomorrow when I get reception ;)

I'm off to dream land. Good night everyone *HUGS*

NishiReviews.com to be created & other domains coming back
    Saturday, December 2, 2006
    11:57 p.m.

Today I bought the domain 'NishiReviews' (.com, .net and .org) - it will be a site which highlights Manhattan's bakeries, cafes and restaurants and anything else I think is cool and worth sharing as a 'great find'. Below is the design I made:

It won't be a review site exactly as I don't believe in giving negative reviews (I already vent my frustration with bad nail jobs and bad eyebrow jobs on this blog ;)), instead, it will simply let visitors know of the various jewels throughout the city organized by the various neighborhoods in Manhattan. I'll start with the West Village and Greenwich Village, as I'm always there already, and branch out to the upper east and west sides and on. For example, one of my fave places is this little bakery called 'Billy's Bakery' on 9th Avenue - it has the most delicious chocolate cupcakes. That would be one of the featured bakeries on the site and would include information on the history of the place and some of its best offerings and prices.

One of my friends who owns and runs a sailormoon site has offered to host UsagiandMamoru.com and MiakaandTamahome.com and all my other domains for FREE on her server!! :) I'm so excited! It'll be great to get all my domains back up and running again.

I'm off to bed right now. I'll write more tomorrow night *HUGS* to all!

    10:05 p.m.

good evening sweet friends :) Lorie I've been meaning to take pictures of the things I see in my walks to the West Village and Greenwich Village and blogging on it. I think if the weather's nice I'll take my camera out on my walks next week during lunch, or maybe this Sunday, and show you guys everything I see.

If you're interested in seeing what the West village and Greenwich Village of NYC looks like, check out these links: Greenwich Village - the Wired NY Forum and West Village, NY Architecture Images and lastly, this AMAZING photo blogger's site, whose Manhattan section even as pictures of David Blane in his bubble in Lincoln Square: MetroPlus Manhattan.

For now, here are some very pretty pics of apartments & homes in the West Village and in Greenwhich Village I found through the above links:

It's believed that Sarah Jessica Parker lives in this building below:

If you guys are ever down there in city, make sure to try McSorley's Old Ale House for drinks and Gravoche for coffee (nice little cafe shop) or the Ciao Wine Bar for, of course, good wine :)

I simply love the fact that so many writers and artists used to live in the Village and people who did AMAZING things for humankind. For example, Gay Street (shown above) is between Christopher Street & Waverly Place and is an "exceptionally well-preserved and charming little street [which] opened in 1833. This street was a stop on the Underground Railroad. A century or so later it was the locale for the films My Sister Eileen and Carlito’s Way. The street was named in honor of Sydney Howard Gay, managing editor of The New York Tribune during the Civil War. Mr. Gay was an avid abolitionist and hid runaway slaves in the press room. His great granddaughter still lives in the Village."

And 24 5-17 St. Luke's Place (ABOVE) - "This is an imposing row of 15 Italianate town houses, constructed on a master design for well-to-do merchants between 1851 and 1854. The ironwork, arched doorways, long French windows, and bracketed roof cornices are especially notable. Novelist Sherwood Anderson lived at No.12 in 1923. Poet Marianne Moore lived at No. 14(1918-1929); in 1925, she became editor of The Dial. Painters Paul Cadmus and Jared French lived at No.15; in 1947, novelist E.M. Forster stayed with them while visiting New York. No. 16 was the home of Novelist Theodore Dreiser; he began writing An American Tragedy while living here. The James J. "Jimmy" Walker Park across the street is named for the former Mayor who lived at 6 St. Luke's Place."

    See? How cool is that?

One day, I swear it, I will own a place in the Village to call my home. It's so steep in history and beauty and is in the center of it all! :) NYC, home sweet home :)

Oh but I still LOVE Los Angeles too! :) I'll have my home there and here in NYC. L.A. or some city within its reaches will have my mansion with an enormous library and my observatory with its huge telescope :) Both cities will be my home :)

Now if only I could be rich already.

Marcia awww that sucks! but hey, I'll be shivering starting tomorrow and all next week - it's only going to be in the 40s with overnight lows in the 20s and 30s. Brrr freakin' brrr! Kayla Sarah Beth's right! :) Altos are beautiful! :) Vocal lessons are important but I've never had any (although I wish I could, I'll be able to afford it soon) but if you can't afford them, there are CDs you can order which go through vocal exercises and teach you how to improve your voice. I've never bought those though. What I do is simply sing along with people whose songs I love and whose voices are beautiful and try to match the way they sing perfectly - trying to sing like them develops your own ability to some extent. Sarah Beth I adore you! :)

I responded to everyone else's msgs in the post below. It's after 10pm now as I finish posting this and I'm going to bed. Busy day tomorrow. See ya guys tomorrow :)

November ends in NYC with a high of over 70 degrees!
    Thursday, November 30, 2006
    11:48 p.m.

I can't remember the last time it was November 30th and the weather was THIS beautifully warm! People were out wearing t-shirts in NYC! There was no way I was going to stay inside work during lunch today so I went out for a 3 mile walk to the West Village and back and it was positively exhilarating! I saw lots of new stores and cafes that had opened up and was eyeing the gorgeous dresses at Calypso & Tracy Reese but I kept on walking. It's so refreshing and it makes me so very badly want to live in an apt in the city - I wish it wasn't so crazy expensive to find the apt of my dreams. The streets are lined with trees in the West Village and there are a number of gorgeous little cafes and restaurants and boutiques and novelty shops (one is named 'Condomania' and sells every variety of condoms!) - the eclectic yet quaint & beautiful feeling of the Village is SO my home.

Too bad the apts there are $2000+ for 1 bedrooms.

Sean I live in 'upstate NY' and work in the city so I only drive the car when my dad lets me (like this week when he was in India) and just to the train station where I catch the train into Grand Central. Yes I do my own laundry but I dry clean my expensive items - those pants will have to be dry cleaned. I love Banana Republic shirts for men - I got many as presents for my Ricky for Christmases and birthdays past ;) Thank you so much for your sweet msgs! I LOVE Madonna's last CD - it's my constant workout CD. What's going on in your world? Tell me what's new! Sarah Beth I still need to go the spa! Need a mani/pedi and a massage - come with me!!! :) Jade-chan aww thank you very much! *HUGS* Memory I LOVEEEEE Lawyers Without Borders - thank you for letting me know about them - I filled out an application to volunteer my pro bono services with them last night :) As for libertarianism - that's gonna require a day or a night when I have time to write to you on that topic ;) This weekend maybe? Kayla awwwwwwwwwww you're sooooo sweet! *HUGS* thank you :) ML *HUGS* and thank you too! :) and you suggested some lovely scents to try at B&BWorks! I'll definitely check those lotions out next time I'm there. Marcia awww thank you and you're welcome :) I agree 100% with you. Oh and champagne body butter sounds sooooooooooo good. Millie *BIG HUGS* :) nuff said ;)

It's almost midnight and I need to sleep. See ya'll tomorrow.

    oh what a day
    Wednesday, November 29, 2006
    09:47 p.m.

man am I glad today is over. what a horribly long ordeal of a day! Guess what happened to me today. I got pulled over by a cop for running a red light but he let me have a break and didn't give me a ticket cause I was following a taxi and it was bumper to bumper and the light had turned red when he and I crossed it together. He was a sweet cop :) But then I get to the train station and I go to make my coffee I bought cause I didn't have breakfast at home today, and this woman who was cleaning out the coffee tray from the bottom of the machines accidently drops the tray and the coffee in it goes spilling ALL OVER my cream-colored Banana Republic pants!!!!! I had light yellow stains all over my left leg for the rest of the day. She apologized and I said it was ok and got paper towels - I was relieved it didn't burn or scald me. Later, people told me I should've gotten a receipt for dry cleaning but I wasn't thinking about that at the time. Ah well. Then I had court in Queens so when I got out at Grand Central Station, instead of walking to F train as I used to do, I decided I'd try to get there faster by taking the 6 and transferring to the E and then to the F and I wound up getting on the downtown E instead of the uptown and losing time and doing a LOT more useless walking and still made it to courthouse by 9:20am. And then my appearances in court weren't over till well after noon and I was so hungry and tired and after grabbing a quick lunch, made it back to the office to find out things had gone haywire on a file I had been working on and had to sort that mess out. By the time I got home tonight after 6, I didn't want to work out, I just chilled and watched the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center Lighting show on NBC and now I'm all moody and hormonal & bloated cause Aunt Flow'll be visiting soon and I feel overweight and fat - and oh good LORD I can't wait to for all this crappiness to be over!

I need a spa treatment - pronto. A long massage would be SO nice.....especially a foot massage - I wore 3 and 1/2" heels today.

Thank you for your wonderful messages guys. I sincerely would reply to each and everyone but I'm just so SPENT physically and mentally. I'll respond tomorrow night. *HUGS* to all.

Healing of the Heart's Scars & the Beauty of Living Life
    Sunday, November 26, 2006
    11:20 a.m.

I was reading a friend's blog today and the way she was writing about a relationship was almost the same way I used to write in my journals years ago about S. I wrote her a HUGE long comment and decided to post here some of the same thoughts, elaborated a little more:
Things don't happen for a reason. They just happen. We later invent the 'reason' simply by living life. When the 1st love of my life and I broke up (first time after 2 years, and the 2nd time for good after 4.5 years), I was devastated beyond words and everyone kept telling me the same old shit about 'things happen for a reason' and I knew in my heart that wasn't true. Sometimes shit happens and you just have to deal with it. People will say you're a lot stronger now because of some hardship you went through. That's bullshit. You already had that strength in you - it was just brought out because of the situation you were in. Any situation would do. One particular sitch doesn't have to be the "reason" for your strength to show.

Even to this day, my heartache over my 1st love still exists. You never truly get over the loss of a loved one or a heartbreak. It stays inside because the worst feelings in the f'n world are those of rejection and loss and the worst knowledge that hearts change.

That said, let me tell you what I learned since that time. I learned I am one kick ass, gorgeous, smart girl who is capable of so much more and greater things than I had been doing. That it was time to move on from his loss and improve my life until I was everything I ever imagined myself to be. I was and am a woman of passionate diverse interests so I pursued them all. A curious thing happens when you love yourself and do what's best for you - you become an amazing person. 8 months after the break up with my 1st love, Ricky and I started going together and it took me almost a year to fully fall in love with him and with time, I came to love him as much as I ever loved my 1st love. Now being married to him is my wish (and I think it will happen soon).

Do I still wish that somehow things with my 1st love and I had worked out? Of course. What was once will always hold a beautiful golden glow, especially because he was my first real experience of true love - a glorious golden light that, of course, would be beautiful to have back. But you can't get that same light back after its been pierced with the darkness of pain. No...that beautiful time in my life and that beautiful love must remain a memory, until I live this life over again and get to experience it all over again. Sometimes I wish that Ricky had been my 1st and only love so that I could see him with that same golden shining light the way I see my old relationship. So that he would be the only man in my heart and I would have a heart unscarred by the pain of my 1st love. But, inevitably, I always conclude that the scars I carry are worth the beautiful love I had once known. And their experience have made me a better person and a better girlfriend and one day, will make me a better wife and mother who will be able to instruct my own daughters and sons in the ways of love and loss.

You can't erase the scars on your heart. All you can do is heal. I am still working to be a more beautiful, better, smarter, wiser, learned and accomplished person. I do this because I truly want to - nothing makes me feel better and happier than knowing I am living up to my ideals and my full potential. And, to conclude, that's what you should do as well. I poured my pain into writing poems, songs, writing in my diaries, losing myself in beautiful romantic comedy anime like Kodocha, Marmalade Boy and Sailor Moon and Fushigi Yuugi. I became a more rich and better person for doing so.
I am now off for a walk and run outside. It is a gorgeous, brisk & cool late November day and I want to enjoy my Sunday and the last day of Thanksgiving break by being out with nature. When I went outside today to get the newspaper, there was this beautiful cool-morning smell....the air was just so crisp and I wasn't cold even though I was only wearing my nightshirt and pajama pants. I thought of my grandmother who wouldn't wake up again to the sound of one of our family members sweeping the grounds of my dad's family home, or to the sound of the birds and buses rolling down the red dirt roads of our village in Kerala. I sent a silent 'thank you' to God for letting me be alive and healthy to enjoy this beautiful morning - to feel the sun on my hands and be able to smile. I know one day, like my grandmother, our bodies will get too old to live, will be filled with pain, and we will no longer be able to enjoy life. It is our duty, so long as we have it, to take care of our bodies so that they will allow us to live long and enjoy life to all its heights. And a further duty to really take advantage of having a healthy body and really LIVE - don't let anything hold us back. Life - despite all its pain and sadness - is worth living. I am happy that I was born and happy that I live. And I will do everything that I am able to do with my life - to make it a life well-lived.

    09:14 p.m.

I'm watching the USC v. Notre Dame game. So far USC's winning 21-3 but I just watched Brady Quinn (#10 for Notre Dame) make a HUGE 60 yard run - WOW. And it's only the 2nd quarter. If USC hopes to keep the lead and win, it better keep a wrap on Brady Quinn. I'm a USC fan because my darling Ricky's a USC alum - years ago he got me totally into the history of the team and the spirit of its alumni is really amazing. Speaking of Ricky, he's gotten me something - and he's been hinting and asking about my ring size a LOT ;) But then he tells me not to think anything! I guess I'll just have to wait and see ;)

How was everyone's thanksgivings? I had a wonderful one with my mom and all my sisters. Papa called from India - my grandmother's funeral went well and he'll be back this Tuesday. We saved him a ton of turkey! :D The girls and I went shopping on Friday and DUDE, were my legs ready to give out after 4 hours. But I did get 2 new black and gray suede boots from Bakers on sale!! :D They feel SOOOOOOOOOOO comfortable and the price was so very, very right! :)

While the girls shopped at Wild Pair and Nine West, I stopped by Bath & Body Works and picked up their new chocolate body creme and body wash. I used the body wash in the shower tonight and goddddd you have NO IDEA how absolutely RELAXING it was. The delicious smell of it made all the tension of the day disappear. And ironically, it DOESN'T make me hungry. At all! It actually dulls my sense of appetite. Weird huh? ;) I just put on the chocolate body creme now and wow, is that stuff super creamy, absorbent and just perfect. Smells so good and my skin is SO SOFT now. I love this stuff. I think I'll give it to my friends as Christmas presents this year. I'm giving myself a manicure now as I watch the football game. I'm cutting all my nails super short now - 2 broke this week and one has started to break after the great job I did this morning cleaning the bathroom and banging my nail against the shower knob. I hate when I break my nails. They're actually very strong and grow very fast so it pisses me off when I'm not careful enough and injure my nails. So cut them all short now I must. Now what color to paint.....a dark, dark color may be nice now...

Ok I'm out. *HUGS* to ML and Jade-chan, Azure-Kaze and Lisa. See ya'll tomorrow :)

    Wednesday, November 22, 2006
    07:58 p.m.

I was going through some older hard-cover diaries I had kept during college and law school and found some songs I'd written and forgotten about. One is this fun dance song called 'Hypnotic' I wrote back in 1999 and the other is a love-loss-dance-ballad called 'Don't Let Him Know' I wrote back in 2002 and then polished and finished in April 2006 - it's about Ricky when he and I were going through a rocky time. I hadn't written these anywhere else and can't believe I didn't include them in my catalog. I spent this past weekend perfecting my catalog of songs and got rid of a lot of songs that I felt weren't my best stuff.

Working on those songs and making them even better than before is hard work! Rhymes and prose come pretty easy for me but sometimes, finding the right words to say exactly what I was thinking or feeling originally when I wrote the songs is difficult. I have to put myself all through the emotions and really immerse myself in it to feel it and write the song correctly - not to mention the many number of times I have to keep singing the melody over and over and any harmonies to create variations and bridges.

    Update at 10:19 p.m.

I just finished watching the Madonna concert on TV (The Confessions Tour). My friend from work, Cynthia, and I went and saw Madonna live in concert here in NYC at Madison Square Garden back in July - and I loved it then, Madonna was awesome - but watching the same show she put on in London on TV just now was EVEN BETTER!!! I could see up close the gorgeous choreography and beautiful entertainment show she put on. She is simply AMAZING! Madonna is my absolute favorite singer/performer. The way she puts on shows is how I've always dreamed to - not just standing up on stage and singing as so many of us do - but actually making it a *SHOW* - engaging people's minds and senses as well as their ears.

When I write songs, I see it come alive in my head the way it would be danced & acted on stage or in a movie. I guess it's from being raised on hindi movies when I was young - all songs are acted and danced out in hindi movies. And that's how I see me doing my songs one day - as a whole act which shows the audience, not just sings to them, what the song is about.

It's 10:30pm now and I need to shower - worked out for an hour and a half today and I'm ready for bed! Got home early from work - they let us out at 3pm in honor of Turkey Day tomorrow! :) 2 of my sisters are home now and the 3rd arrives tomorrow morning. Ok I HAVE to stop writing now.

On Anger & losing one's temper
    Thursday, November 16, 2006
    11:58 p.m.

Funny thing.....after spending that post below relaying how frayed and angry I was this week and how I lost my temper more than once this week, someone's anger & temper tonight reminded me how stupid it is to be so angry that you lose your temper.

    Some wise words on Anger:
He who angers you conquers you.

Anger is one letter short of danger.

If a small thing has the power to make you angry, does that not indicate something about your size? ~Sydney J. Harris

Anger dwells only in the bosom of fools. ~Albert Einstein

No man can think clearly when his fists are clenched. ~George Jean Nathan

Anger blows out the lamp of the mind. ~Robert G. Ingersoll

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned. ~Buddha
In my opinion, the only use for anger is as an impetus to do that which is righteous in purpose, i.e. does good for all involved.

While it may feel great in the moment, unleashing your anger at someone, or in front of people, is unwise & non-beneficial to your's or others' spirits if the situation is out of your control or where blaming someone or something really doesn't improve the situation. And in truth, we often get mad about things that are really stupid, pointless and that you can't do much about. It's best to reign in your temper in such a situation.

Even if it is a situation in which you are 100% in the right to be angry about - you'd best have cultivated the ability to vocalize or display your anger in an appropriate manner. To do so means controlling your temper response and speaking with a voice that is angry but controlled, calm & rational and which addresses the issue at hand without losing the argument to irrationality or temper.

For those who aren't experienced in voicing anger appropriately, the first thing you have to do is get your temper under control - count to 10 or take a walk or just get away from the situation until you've calmed down and can address it in a rational and controlled manner.

Me? I like punching things :) It's why I loved San Da Kickboxing because we punched AND kicked in the classes. But I punch my bedm sofa or pillows or I scrunch paper until its all crinkly and round and squeeze the hell out of it or I rant and rave in my journals or talk to friends and vent in a healthy way. I used to love playing tennis and smashing the balls on the court cause it released my aggression.

Having a temper is normal, unleashing anger is healthy - but you have to do it in a productive and healthy way. Curse. Spit. Yell up at the sky. But in front of others, maintain your composure and speak through your anger calmly and if you can't, then first unleash your anger in a private place and in a productive way and later re-address what made you angry in a calmer, rational way.

Ok I'm done. It's almost midnight and I'm going to bed. Gnight all.

the mercury retrograde is to blame
    Thursday, November 16, 2006
    06:56 p.m.

ggggaaaawwwdddddddddddddddd I seriously cannot WAIT for this week to be over! I think I really believe in this freakin' mercury retrograde thing. Yesterday (wednesday) I involved myself in an altercation at NY Supreme Court with this guy who was bullying this poor newbie attorney who cut in line - he didn't know the correct line to be on - and even after he apologized, the other guy kept saying things like ' u think because u wear a suit & tie means ur better than us?' and a TON of other class-related and white-man slurs - I had a splitting headache that morning - again because my cab was late and I missed the train and wound up being late for court - and when I heard him going at the guy over being white and stuff I LOST it on the guy - I was like 'leave him ALONE! He already apologized - it's way too early in the morning for petty arguments like this' and the stupid guy turned to me and was like 'miss, don't get involved' and I yelled at him to not get involved. I became friends with the poor newbie attorney who was actually really cute! :) Forget his name - Evan I think? Something like that. Whatever. I felt I had a duty to stick up for the guy who was being bullied even after apologizing.

And can I just say that it is REALLLLLLLY ironic that I work 5 days a week defending taxi drivers and taxi companies and get crappy service and ill treatment from dispatchers when I need to take a taxi in the morning. Usually my dad drives me to the station in the morning but he was in D.C. past few days for a conference so I was forced to taxi it and I got pissed off on Tuesday at a taxi dispatcher who made me miss my scheduled train though I called well in advance and he didn't have the courtesy or honesty to tell me that the cab would take a while - and I'm actually a REGULAR CUSTOMER of this taxi company and know a couple of the dispatchers and a lot of the drivers. This guy could saved me a LOT of grief - giving the same old excuses about rush hour doesn't excuse his lack of consideration in failing to tell regular customers there may be a wait - ppl appreciate being told the truth. I bust my ass defending these cab drivers and their companies and I get lousy services and miss trains - it's just not right. Heaven forbid I ever have to defend HIM in a law suit - I'll throw the book at him.

Oh and while I'm on things I hate - I HATE people who SMOKE and walk down the sidewalk at the same time blowing their DISGUSTING cancer smoke all over everyone as they walk. Second hand smoke KILLS. UUGGHHHHHHH!

I feel like this whole week has been HELLISH. It doesn't even FEEL like thanksgiving is around the corner! I feel like a bundle of angry nerves and like too many people in NY have trampled on my sense of decency and respect. I love NY for its museums, its history, its culture, food, nightlife, for my friends and the many memories I have in it but I can live without the polluted & cancer-smoke-filled streets and without the rude people and harsh attitudes and curses left and right.

    Some info on Mercurry Retrograde:
On October 28, 2006, Mercury, the cosmic magician, turns retrograde in Scorpiosending communications, travel, appointments, mail and the www into a general snarlup! This awkward period begins a few days before the actual turning point (as Mercury slows) and lasts for three weeks or so, until November 18, when the Winged Messenger reaches his direct station. At this time he halts and begins his return to direct motion through the zodiac. Everything finally straightens out on December 5, 2006.

Mercury retro in Scorpio inclines to a sharp, sarcastic tongue. People generally tend to be bold and stubborn, headstrong and difficult to get along with. Knowledge and information is equated with power and secrecy. Confusion arises over secret matters that come to light and misguided information deriving from those who cling stubbornly to their opinions. Mysticism and the occult are in the news, scarily so! People are more quarrelsome, skeptical and cynical, hanging on to opposing views and often sarcastic to others. Sexual advances and sexually coloured statements are more likely to be misconstrued. The emotional influence of Scorpio sharpens our instincts, but makes us less sympathetic. Secrets will come to light, often to the discomfort of those concerned. It is not a good time for surgery.
Dude if you only knew how accurate some of that stuff was! Thank God Saturday is Nov. 18th. I have a feeling good news is on the way next week :)

Sean wow!! congrats on that paper! ;) and I was really surprised to see u had a hellish couple of days too - I really think this merc retro might be something! ;) Sarah Beth I can't believe u too! Happy Dating Anniversary my dear!! *HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGG* How's the rest of ur week been? Laur the server which hosted the quizzes is down - hope to have things running over thanksgiving or Christmas :) Millie You too!? It made me feel better to see you had a crazy upheaval too! :) Marcia my bad! I saw bf and I read brother my accident. *HUG* what did you end up getting him? did he love it? :)

    10:45 p.m.

so many crazy things happened today when the morning had started out so quiet. Between a fight with the morning dispatcher of a taxi company I use regularly, to an argument with my Ricky (which is fine now ;)) and a friend getting sick at lunch and just a myriad of other annoyances and weird crap - it makes u wonder what the heck was going ON with today! I hear there's a mercury retrograde and that things tend to get chaotic when that happens. Well all of that be damned! I finally came home today, worked out for an hour and a half, had a nice shower, spent time with my mom (dad's in D.C. for some conference) and had a yummy dinner and now I'm gonna get into bed and forget all about today! I have court tomorrow in NY Supreme and I'm going to take a different taxi company tomorrow just to be safe.

*yawn* too tired. *HUGS* to everyone, I swear I'll respond to msgs tomorrow night - promise! :) No pearl of wisdom tonight - too gosh darn tired! Have a great night everyone - sleep well.

    06:37 a.m.

it's early morning in the middle of november....so many leaves on the ground and the trees are dwindling down to brown bark leaving the empty expanse of the sky & hills visible. Many still shine with burnt orange and gold leaves. The lake is perfectly still and the sky is a muted grey, holding the very real promise of a hard, rainy day. It's so quiet, but I can't hear the wind and the birds have long gone. I think even the brown squirrels and the furry hedgehogs who live under the deck must be sleeping ;)

It's so very, very beautiful but at the same time depressing and saddening to see so much brown & grey and, the trees stark and the leaves brittle and decaying.

Ok! That said, I'm gonna go shower now and get ready for work. Wasn't THIS a great way to start my morning! ;)

Lydia NOOOOO that would be so SAD if Peter was Sylar! Marcia I left a msg on your blog about the bday ideas for your brother. Make sure to let me know what you wound up getting him! :)

    Have a greay day everyone!

Oh and today's pearl of wisdom:

No one has the right to destroy another person's belief by demanding empirical evidence.

    Today's Pearl of Wisdom

    1:43 p.m.

good morning guys and dolls :) I'm struck this morning by the fact that all the leaves have fallen off the trees in front of the lake outside my window. I can see clear across the lake to this white mansion-house. I just grabbed my binoculars and am now looking out on it :) Over the summer Mekha and I went hiking in the woods and saw that house had a HUGE pool with a waterfall falling from the side of it down the rocks onto the lake below. It was so gorgeous. I can't see the pool now - maybe that's not the house....makes me want to go hiking today......looks like it's going to rain this morning though....

As many of you know, I'm an astronomy buff - Check out the telescope I'm getting myself for Christmas this year: Meade's ETX 125AT:

It's my affordable dream telescope for now :) With this, I can take amazing pictures of Jupiter's Red Eye and Saturn's rings. I really, REALLY love astrophotography. There's nothing like seeing features of the moon, and distant stars and galaxies through a telescope - it's almost as if it's right in front of you - so close you could touch it. I've often wished I could take pictures of what I see and with this telescope and my digital camera, I'll be able to do just that.

Lisa As soon as I get some people, I'll have them call Johnny Depp's and Orlando Bloom's people and hook you up with the Pirates premiere tickets ;) Totally! ;) And dude I'm never on MSN! :P Phooey - just for you I'll get on Trillian and log into all my accounts. I'll send u a msg with my MSN account name. *HUGS*

Kayla how're you doing? how's ur weekend? Ramona LOL! thanks ;) Jade I've already been doing that - all the articles are archived in the articles section of NishiMusic.com. Azure Kaze thank you very much :) ML Hopefully the dems will put into effect a lot of favorable environmental legislation. How was your Saturday? What're u upto today?

I'm gonna spend today reading magazines and watching movies and then work out tonight and watch the new ep of Desperate Housewives. Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. See you tomorrow :)

    07:50 p.m.

Hold everything! I know after that long entry below that I was going to work out, but today, India West Magazine/Newspaper - published an article about me!

The article's beautiful and I'm SO HAPPY! I just showed my mom and she loves it :) But there are just 2 things it got wrong: It says I work in civil rights & human rights? I work in personal injury litigation but my passion IS civil and human rights :) And Nightingale's Song was written for my grandfather on my mom's side who died in 2003 from cancer.

And now it's 8pm and I can't work out cause I'm way too hungry! :) LOL!

I responded to everyone's msgs in the entry below :) Have a wonderful night everyone!

    7:23 p.m.

ohhh my godddddd u guys have to see the moon out tonight - it is seriously a werewolf's moon. No kidding. The moon is HUGE and there are all these dark, smokey grey clouds around it - positively EERIE and GORGEOUS! :)

Takes my mind off horrible news I was reading. Did you read about the atrocities some of our soldiers committed? U.S. Soldiers Rape 14 Year Old Iraqi Girl.

I am so sad, ashamed and troubled that 5 people from our country would do such a vile thing to an innocent girl and her family. It took only the actions of those 5 people, out of hundreds of thousands of other soldiers who were doing GOOD deeds, to ruin all of our good work. Now the rest of us have to do double the work to make up for the acts of 5 of our worst people.

I am against this Iraq war. Have been since the beginning. Senseless war. Senseless violence. Senseless death and destruction. You can be sure I'm voting democratic this Tuesday.

The Bush administration sought to convince us that we should 'stay the course', that Iraqis would welcome us with open arms and welcome democracy. They even said we'd find weapons of mass destruction. I knew from the beginning it was a lie - they were threatened by Saddam and wanted him out of power and taking advantage of our fear post-9/11 was the best way to do it.

Iraq & Iran and the other middle east/Islamic countries will NOT be won over by democracy. They are completely different nations whose rule is based on Islam. Democracy and our way of life - the western way - is shunned by the holiest of Islam's leaders. They already hate us for supporting and siding with Israel - Baywatch and McDonalds is just insult to injury.

It's terrifying when you think that this war between the west and the middle east may become World War III and may end in nuclear destruction of some sort. If we have ANY hope of stopping such a tragedy, it's diplomacy that is necessary and the understanding to realize that people and nations are different, and some parts are better left without any American contact at all. By entering Iraq, we already were labeled 'invaders' of a country central to Islamic history. The longer we stay, and the longer we involve ourselves in their affairs and markets without being invited, the more harm we do.

We may fight big with weapons and economic sanctions, but in the end, will that stop suicide bombers and person after person filled with hate for the west from doing anything to hurt us? Little pebbles inflict great wounds over time. You can't fight hate, intolerance and ignorance with weapons and sanctions - you only make it worse. You fight it with compassion and understanding and moral ethics that takes all sides and interests into consideration.

    I'm off to work out.

Marcia LOL! thank you :) Yes I know the whole point is to pour my whole heart into it, which is why I said I will never give up. :) *HUGS* did you wind up being a cat by the way? Anne Yes it will be back up. If I'm lucky, I'll get to it over thanksgiving weekend or the Christmas/New Year holidays. Andy thank you but no. Millie oooh I'd LOVE to teach! I'd be right at home teaching international policy or literature or history like ancient civilizations or mythology :) Kayla a Sith warlord? HOW COOL! I didn't even THINK of Star Wars characters! Ok I am SOOOOOOO Senator Padme next year! Pitas is the best :)

Sean yes it does but I just got it in the mail yesterday actually and am going to return it because it's just not a good watch - it's too large and the clock face flips over constantly and it's just not as elegant as it looks. The other watch next to it, however, is BEAUTIFUL and perfect and I'm keeping it :) Polar Explorer sounds awesome! I do own a pair of Persol sunglasses I bought in Malabu in 2005 I think. One of my fave pairs and the guy who sold it to be told me how Clooney and all the Oceans 11 pair owned one. I could care less - I buy based on how nice they look on me ;) ML awwww thank you so much!!! You know, u should really start a blog too! I'd love to see your room! :) I have on display a 4 of my Princess Serenity/Neo Queen Selenity dolls in my room and about 6 other rare Selenity figurines, keychains and pins displayed as well on my desk and window sills :) They bring me peace :)

LYDIAAAAAAAAA LOLLLLLLLL! Dude let's go trick or treating together next year? :) *HUGS* Jade-chan thank you! How was your halloween? Where were you away to? Lorie I'm at your blog now and am gonna check out the pics! I'm so glad you had an awesome Halloween! *HUGS* :) Sarah Beth I didn't know Halloween was ur fave! Did you take any pics of the costume? 09:32 p.m.

hi everyone :) thank you for all the wonderful halloween wishes! I loved hearing how everyone celebrated the spookiest night of the year :) It's now November and it's hard to believe how quickly this year has flown by. The days and months just vanish when you're working 9-5 and you look back and wonder what happened to your life. When I look back on the past few years since I graduated law school in 2002, all I'm truly happy about - career wise - is that I made my cd and am working hard at a music career. And I'm happy that I found a job practicing law at a place I'm happy at & which allows me the time to pursue music and all my other interests. However, there are days, like today, when I wonder what I'm doing working as an attorney in automobile negligence when I'd rather spend my time producing all my songs, researching humanitarian issues, writing my fantasy books and pursuing my other interests? I once read a funny joke about school ruining this girl's social life and thinking 'Hah! Yeah but school's necessary, education's important and there'll be plenty of time to socialize later.' But now when I think of that joke & apply it to work...I think 'working full-time is costing me the time to pursue all my other ambitions but it's necessary because how else will I make money to pay bills and live?'

I love my job and I make a lot of money now and, believe me, when you see that money coming in, you are REALLY happy ;) But after a while, as much as you love the people, the profession and the pay, you just realize 'I'm not passionate enough about it because it's not what I REALLY want to do with my life and to continue doing it like this will make me ultimately, very unhappy and unfulfilled.'

The key to happiness and satisfaction in life is to work for a living doing something you love. This is why I am working hard at a music career. Even though the chances of success are 1% and it'll be time consuming and 10-times more stressful and harder than working as an attorney - at least it will pay off with end results I really want: I'll be free to simply write, create and sing songs and will have the money and free time to put into pursuing all my humanitarian advocacy and writings.

After many years of working as an attorney what will I have to show for it? Probably a great understanding of the law, the justice system, and a handsome set of legal volumes and maybe some publications in law journals. I would love to eventually be a partner in a law firm but at what cost? Will working as an attorney, day in and day out, ever satisfy me as a career choice in an of itself? No. As much as I love my job and the wonderful people I work with and law in general....in the long run, after another year or two, I'll reach a point where I can't take it anymore. I'll need a permanent outlet for my creativity and need greater intellectual stimulation.

The whole reason I wanted to be a lawyer since I was 11 years old was because I loved investigation, loved to write & wanted to be working on powerful cases - cases that made a HUGE difference in the world - and as an adult, those cases for me center around international human rights and civil rights. I want to be at the forefront of making sure the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay are released and that America - regardless of threats it faces - will ensure ALL its prisoners - citizens or enemy combatants - are treated with the safety, dignity and respect that is expected of the most powerful and well-intentioned nation in the world. I want to be at the forefront of international laws and policy regarding warfare, gay rights, abortion & women’s rights.

My fall back plan, if a music career doesn’t come through, is this: work as an attorney until age 31-33, have kids and while pregnant or caring for kids, go back to school and get a masters in international affairs and foreign policy so that I could work for an NGO or a some company where my skills as a lawyer and my knoweldge in int'l affairs would be most suited. That would mke me happy too! :)

But God...when I look at my song books, when I sit here and sing....such a feeling runs through me. I get tears in my eyes when I think that my songs will never be produced right, that all these songs will just sit and collect dust - an empty symbol of what might have been. I want to sing and live this dream so much. I want to hear my songs - beautifully produced - with me singing to the 100% best of my ability and showing this world how amazing my songs are....I want that so, so, so much - it makes me sob.

I have no idea if I'm just chasing a rainbow. Have no idea if any of the ambitions I've set for myself - whether they even have half a chance of coming to fruition! All I know is, if you love something, and want it so much your heart hurts, just don't give up. Put your all into it. Even if you fail, at least you tried every damn thing to succeed. That is a hell of a lot better than never having tried at all. And if you do fail, at least you can lay that dream to rest knowing you tried your hardest. I'm an optimist by nature, but even I can't help but think that what if, sometimes, some dreams, just weren't meant to come true? But if I ever gave into thinking like that - I wouldn't be here doing what I do. I refuse to wallow and give in to pessimistic thinking. This world was created by people who believed in their dreams and fought with all their might to make those dreams come true. They never gave up. I'm not gonna stop. Ever. Even if I turn 50 and still never had musical success, nothing's gonna stop me from singing, writing songs, and producing my music. I'll find a way to do it. Some of the most amazing painters, writers and poets in the world were rejected by the society and peers of their time, and yet many years later, they were 'discovered' and loved. Music is enduring. It's forever. Even if I don't achieve success here, someday, some way, my songs and my voice will shine and brighten someone's life and they'll feel what I felt when I wrote and sang the song - and it'll be the most wonderful thing in the world. I have to believe that. And I do.

Who knows, maybe it will be my great-great granddaughter who discovers my cds and song books one day and maybe hearing me, will help HER voice and dreams to shine. And by God, that is truly something wonderful.

I won't give up. No matter I work every day, I'll look fwd to making this dream a reality. One way or another, I won't die until I know that I published all my books and made all my best songs into music on cds - I'll keep doing it until the ability to create words leaves my body.

After an entry like this I just don’t have the energy to respond to everyone’s sweet msgs. Please forgive me. I *will* respond this weekend. I saw all the msgs and appreciate them all. Thank you everyone! *HUGS*

    With all my love,

    - Nishi

Happy Halloween in advance everyone! :) After work today, I went with a couple friends to a Haunted House tonight and had SUCH a great time! Between a 'little girl' who was being chased by evil and one of my friends getting volunteered to be one of the guys who has to get 'tortured' (it was actually a dummy and he wound up jumping out of a hidden wall-crate) - it was totally fantastic :)

Tomorrow's Halloween! What're you guys doing? I know Miyu-chan is working *HUGS* one day Miyu-chan ur gonna be head of ur own company and take any day off u want :) Marcia dress up! dress up! :) It's so much more fun when you dress up! It's only ONCE a year!!! :)

I shall either go to the parade in the village and party with friends or come home and bake cupcakes with pumpkin faces and chocolate covered ghost cookies and rent some fun halloween movies - nothing scary - just fun - stuff like 'Twitches' or 'Halloween Town' - the kinda stuff for kids. Yes, I know - I just can't handle really scary movies - FREAKS me out and I don't sleep for weeks convinced a demon is in my room or that I hear voices in the kitchen - that's how freaked out I get! So yeah - NO scary movies for me.

But I Love, Love, LOVE halloween :) I love good children's stories about witches and wizards and haunted houses that are actually good houses with good ghosts who need children's help to solve a mystery. I stopped and browzed Posman's Bookstore forEVER the other day just eyeing the various new children's halloween stories that I wound up NOT buying cause I couldn't figure out which would actually be WORTH buying ;)

What I really want - is to go trick or treating. I wanna get dressed up and get TONS OF FREE CANDY! But nobody I know wants to do it. Spoil sports.

Agh. :) Hope you ALL have a WONDERFUL halloween holiday! See you tomorrow or Wednesday :)

I love watches. I love bracelets. I love jewelry. I finally was able to afford these 2 watches I was *drooling* over this past July:

And now I'm saving up to buy these 4 (I'll splurge on only 1 a month) unless my sisters or parents or my darling Ricky would like to buy me 1 or more as a Christmas present? :D *hint hint* :)

I wonder if they got the hint? ;) LOL! :)

It is a beautiful fall day here again. I was outside helping my dad bring in our swing chair, table and grill from the deck and helped him re-arrange our garage. I'm totally tired and hunry now!

Tomorrow after work, a few friends from work and I are going to HauntedHouseNYC.com's haunted house here in Manhattan! :) I can't wait! I know I'm gonna be TERRIFIED but it's in fun so it's ok :)

I wanna dress up for halloween! I haven't bought a costume yet though! My only solution is to raid K-Mart or CVS or Duane Reade or RICKYSNYC.....whatever I'll be, I want it to be a warm costume so I can watch the annual halloween parade in Greenwich Village without shivering on Tuesday night ;) The parade is GIGUNDO fun! I look fwd to it every year but the past couple years haven't been SCARY enough :) I remember my first when I was in law school and it was SPOOKY seeing the skeletons on stilts. I want that same feeling Tuesday night :)

What're you all doing for Halloween? Dressing up and trick or treating? If I can, I'll see if my friends who dressed up wanna go trick or treating at the houses down in the village :) LOL! I don't care how old I am - if you wear a great costume and go door to door, u should get candy!! :) I'm a kid at heart :)

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone! *HUGS* to Sarah Beth and Millie :)

    04:55 p.m.

After helping my mom, and cleaning the house, I escaped outside as soon as I saw the sun come out - and it was definitely windy! Leaves and branches strewn everywhere. Luckily, no fallen electrical lines or anything dangerous. In fact, it was an absolutely beautiful day to be going for a walk outside. I stayed out for about 40 minutes trying to find the houses with all the halloween decorations. The wind, however, had destroyed a lot of people's pretty decorations. I did find SOME houses whose things were intact though :) Between the wind, and the smell of nature, the crisp air, and the beautiful colors of leaves and trees and all the water everywhere from the flooding and rains, it felt SO GOOD to be out walking for a mile - I really enjoyed the afternoon :) After I finished, I came back home and took pictures of the views of the trees and things from my backyard on the deck.

And then I came back to my room and decided I'd take pictures of my room to show all of you. I love my room. It's calming and peaceful, and just beautiful.

I'm going to have lunch/dinner now and watch my netflix dvds and then take a long warm shower, light candles, finish the 2nd book in the Temeraire series (this amazing dragon series) and then watch the History Channel's special on dragons tonight at 10pm.

Have a wonderful night friends :) I responded to all msgs in the entries below!

One of my favorite New York Times columnists is 'Nicholas D. Kristof' and back in 2003, he wrote this article called Lovers Under the Skin about homosexuals and genetics and how even then, as now, more and more evidence shows homosexuality is genetically based. He argued against religous zealots who used the Bible as evidence that homosexuality was against God. He said, and I quote:
"The bottom line is that same-sex love is a mystery far more subtle than just a matter of Biblical injunction — just as interracial love has turned out to be.

A 1958 poll found that 96 percent of whites disapproved of marriages between blacks and whites (Deuteronomy 7:3 condemns interracial marriages).

In 1959 a judge justified Virginia's ban on interracial marriage by declaring that 'Almighty God . . . did not intend for the races to mix.'

Someday, we will regard opposition to gay marriage as equally obtuse and old-fashioned.

No force is more divine than love, and if some people are encoded to love others of the same sex, how can that be unholy?

To me, the blasphemy is not in those who want to share their lives with others of the same sex, but rather in anyone presumptuous enough to vilify that love."
    Bravo Mr. Kristof. Bravo.

Today in the Journal News, I read a beautiful article on a human rights activist who worked with one of my heroes, Eleanor Roosevelt. Her name is Margaret Bruce and I'm now a fan of hers as well! A life in service to others - Margaret Bruce. The articles tells how she is a champion of international human rights and who worked with Eleanor Roosevelt on creating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

I read how she served as president of the Westchester Chapter of the United Nations Association of New York and looked up their website and am going to the join the Westchester and NYC chapters.

It's finally getting bright outside after a night of terrible rain and it's been SO incredibly windy with gusts upto 50mph. The weather looks too risky to go outside today but if it permits and if I have time, I'm gonna go out later and take pictures of the halloween-decorated houses. Last night's storm, today's windiness and this whole weekend's crazy weather are all one of those perfect halloween-like/late-October times when things feel so spooky outside :) Oooh just as I said that the sun came out! :) Maybe I'll head out now! Mmm maybe not - i just saw the trees shaking under a fierce wind. I only weigh anywhere from 97-101 pounds so I'm not going to risk getting picked up by a 50 mph gust of wind ;)

For those of us who love anything to do with dragons (and I do because I'm a Fire Dragon according to chinese astrology), tonight on the History Channel at 10pm, they're doing a special on the history of Dragons and research into the actuality of their existence. Cool huh? :)

Ailinon *HUGS* thank you! :) a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet. The way I see it, marriage is a symbol of a committment between 2 people - it shouldn't be a term only for male-female couplings but should be applied equally to all committed couples who want to marry regardless of gender or race. Miyu-chan thanks babe :) how're you doing? I haven't popped on over to your blog in a while - what's new!? Marianya wow! That's fantastic news for your friend! Tell her congrats for me! :) If you DO come to NY, let me know and we'll meet up for coffee or lunch or dinner - whatever! :) Sarah Beth *HUGS* how was that party Friday night? :) Happy Halloween my dear friend *HUG* once the magazines/publishings come out, I'll post a link so you can either read/view or buy! Why not come to NYC for Christmas? :) :) Or to my house for Thanksgiving!! You and Pat would be MORE than welcome!!!! Millie well I thoroughly enjoy reading it! Is it ok if I link you on my 'friends' list here? Susan *HUGS* I don't think I responded to your msg before - the show went BEAUTIFULLY as you can see below :) How're you doing?

I'm off. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone!

    into the autumn spirit
    Friday, October 27, 2006
    07:19 p.m.

in the spirit of autumn, I've collected some pictures taken from weatherbug.com (my computer desktop weather program) that were all taken in the past month or so of this year. If the weather isn't too bad this weekend (they've predicted winds of 45-60 mph) I'll go outside and take some photos myself of the houses decorated here for halloween - you should see them: elaborate grave yards, scarecrows, ghosts and witches :) It's AWESOME :) Some of the pictures below look like what I see out my backyard - gorgeous lush fall foliage of reds, purples and golds.

Enjoy these wonderful pictures I loved :) Tonight, I'm going to watch 'It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown', light some candles, read a nice & scary book and get myself fully wrapped in the halloween & autumn spirit :)

3 cheers for New Jersey - it said gay couples are entitled to the same legal rights and financial benefits as heterosexual couples! I'm very happy with that decision. I've always believed homosexuals should be treated equally by our society and that it is only the hate of religious discrimination and cultural prejudice that keeps homosexuals from being treated as human beings and equally!

My view on this is simple: Consenting adults, male or female, should be allowed to love and marry any other consenting adults, male or female, they choose.

Neither people nor government has ANY business issuing laws telling grown adults whom they can or cannot love or marry..

And if our laws give benefits to married people just because they are male & female, that is an unfair, discriminatory & unconstitutional practice because all people - regardless of race, religion or gender are supposed to be treated equally and given all the benefits as any other human being - and this INCLUDES marriage - whether between male-female, male-male or female-female.

The argument I always hear from anti-gay people is that marriage is under attack, that marriage is the building block of our family and societies. However, if these idiots haven't noticed - regular male-female marriages have been declining, and of those who DO marry? Over 50% end in divorce.

Marriage is NOT under attack by gay people. Gay people LOVE their partners and WANT to marry BECAUSE of LOVE! They're not stopping YOU from marrying whomever you want, so stop preventing THEM! If anything - they're SHOWING people how wonderful and beautiful marriage is!

The other argument I always hear is 'God hates homosexuals' - and to that I say the God I know is a God of love and loves ALL of mankind for who and what we are. Whoever wrote the Bible's passages on gays - and I say this BEING a Christian - whoever wrote it was already anti-gay and already thought God hated gay people and his beliefs came to be known as the word of God and became religious lessons.

God doesn't hate gay people. And if you believe He does, you're just fooling yourself and you're being what He truly does hate: a bigot.

Jesus preached love, tolerance and acceptance. The actions and vile arguments against gay people are based purely on hate, instead of love and understanding. A God who LOVES his people, would never punish or hate anyone who chose to LOVE rather than hate.

I fight against discrimination in ALL its forms.

    08:14 p.m.

Is it only Wednesday? Gosh what a LONG week it's already been - thank god tomorrow's Thursday. I was in the Bronx yesterday and today - for court yesterday and for a deposition today - i was really excited to do the deposition today and I loved it - depositions are examinations under oath where witnesses to an accident testify as to how the accident happened. Today's driver was making a right-turn into this intersection in the Bronx and 2 kids who were at the corner began to cross I think and the front bumper struck 1 or 2 and they wound up scratching up their legs. Their mother was at the corner and there was all this snow accumulated. Fun deposition man - including the fact that our witness needed a spanish interpreter. :) I loved it :) This was one of those days when I loved being a lawyer.

Afterwards, the plaintiff's counsel invited me to ride in his BMW back into the city and we drove from the Bronx back into Manhattan and I saw the north end of Central Park and Harlem and it was all so BEAUTIFUL - gorgeous architecture and just....I fell in love with the city all over again.

I love working in the city. I love New York City. I can never understand it when people see the city and don't fall in love with it - if they could see what I've seen and experienced what I saw, they'd change their minds - I know it.

Guess what! I'm going to be in 2 more magazines/newspapers/publications! India West and India Express! :) Very excited!! Tonight I'm not doing anything - I'm so tired and all I wanna do is grab my Astronomy magazines and lose myself in some articles. I'm going to light some candles, have some dinner and relax.

Millie and Lorie *HUGS* thank you both of you!!! You two are such sweethearts. Millie by the way I love reading your blog :)

    Last night's peformance - Videos! :)

    09:26 a.m.

Updated at 2:13 p.m. below with PICTURES!!! :)

Awesome, awesome AWESOME performance last night! and LOTSSSSSSSS of drama!!!! My guitarist I hired for the night got ELECTROCUTED by a guitar amp he had asked to be provided for him by this professional studio rental equipment facility in the city which I won't name right now. The guitar amp had apparently not been checked before it was delivered to us and when we finally got it and the guitarist was setting it up, it BLEW and he screamed and flew across the stage and the engineer of the house and the other band members helped him. His hand was burned. As a result, he couldn't play any of my songs for the night. PLUS, we were supposed to go on at 8 and set was to be over at 8:45. We didn't go on until 8:30 and I only performed 5 of my 10 songs because the next act went on at 8:45 - this happened because the well-reputed studio rental facility was LATE in delivering the guitar, keyboard and bass amps and cabs necessary to play the gig last night. Over 30-40 minutes late. We wasted a TON of time because of that rental facility and then the guitarist got electrocuted and that's why we couldn't go on until 8:30. I'm calling tomorrow first thing from work and getting a refund on the 2 guitar pieces I rented AND demanding a 50% refund on the delivery and a tax adjustment. The guitarist called me last night after the show and said he was going to Bellevue hospital cause he didn't feel good. Apparently he doesn't have insurance and he wanted to know if the rental facility would pay him for the medical expenses because it was their fault he got electrocuted. I was like ummm I have no idea - that's something he'd have to talk to them about. I told them when i called on Monday I'd explain what happened. He was such a sweetheart - I paid him his full rate for the night even though he didn't play because he went through SO MUCH to learn the songs and then got burned and could've died because of that faulty rental equipment.

All my sisters were there, my friend Ellyn from work came, my friend Alexi, Tabitha and her husband Matt and a bunch of other people I don't know came. After my set we wound up staying till after 11pm - we had a GREAT time and got to know my bass player's, Sanjay's, 2 friends. We didn't get home until after 1am and I just finished uploading the 3 videos my sister was able to take of my performances last night. Just 3. She didn't get the 1st or the last but I'm glad I have SOMETHING :)

I'll update a little later with TONS of pictures from last night of my sisters and I partying :) For now here are the videos.

My show is tonight and I'm a little worried. I'm still sick despite my best efforts at kicking this cold. I went to straight to bed last night after picking my folks up from JFK and woke up this morning around 6am and began warming up my vocals at 7. And I'm still very, very congested and my throat has all this weird congestion in it and tightness.

It's too late now to cancel - the show must go on. I'm going to down some cold medicine, take a hot shower, rehearse like crazy and meet with the band at 4:30 for a 2 hour rehearsal/run-through and then head on over to the place.

Wish me luck guys. I haven't been this nervous before a performance since last October 2005 when I went to this open mic thing with my friend Amalia. It'd be ok if I didn't feel sick....well I've just gotta give it my best :) Every performer has had bad days and sick days - but I have an audience to perform for and I'm not gonna back out. I'm gonna give it the best I can no matter what.

somehow I'm keeping the worst of this cold at bay - throat hasn't gotten worse at all - that's good news :) and last night I was able to sing well actually at rehearsal :)

And with some more rest and a LOT of ginger tea I should be fine by Saturday :)

I just booked the studio for rehearsal Saturday and got the guitarist I needed and am almost finished renting the equipment the guys need for Saturday night.

WOO HOOOO!!! I'm gonna relax and sing my heart out now :)

Azure Kaze LOL! it's only since I started working in the city! :) I think it's the subway and where I work - full of germs - the place I work is of course a humongous law office with a billion files and people are always sick there so it's easy to catch germs, and then with the subway and all ;) Tabitha can't wait to see you Saturday night :) It'll be a fabulous night :) *HUGS* Jade awwwww *HUGS* thank you! :) i'll be fine :) I'll kick this cold by Saturday! :) Lorie wasn't it? :) you're welcome! :) *HUGS* Sarah Beth my dear friend we sooo need to make regular Sunday catch up calls :) *HUG* Ellie thank you very much :) ML LOL! S'ok!! :) Caroline we definitely need to. Next week? :)

    10:07 p.m.

so ya know how I said last night I felt like I sang myself hoarse? I thought it was a LITTLE strange cause usually my voice doesn't go hoarse like that after a couple hours of singing. Well, tonight I found out why - I'm getting SICK!! 4 nights before my SHOW!!! I've already eaten all the oranges here in the kitchen and tomorrow I'm going to buy some Airborne and dissolve/swallow as many of them as I can stand. NO WAY IN HELL I am getting sick now.

grrrr. I'm so pissed. How the hell did I get sick. How!?

I still have rehearsal tomorrow night - can't miss that - studio is paid for and I NEED to rehearse with the guys cause it's the first time we'll be rehearsing before the show - these guys are complete professionals who do music for a living or used to - they know their stuff like you wouldn't believe and show up to rehearsals knowing everything. Amazing guys.

I'm gonna turn in early to sleep and fight this cold. Come Saturday night, I want my vocals to SHINE! :)

I should be asleep right now but I was up perfecting the song order of the 10 songs for my gig on Saturday and have wound up singing myself hoarse. Heh. Not good. Well, can't worry about that now - too damn sleepy! Time for bed :)

No energy to respond to messages this late after midnight. Will try to respond tomorrow - no promises on that though ;)

New York Times Editorial on the Military Commissions Act of 2006 - Guantanamo Bay
    Sunday, October 15, 2006

Here is an excellent Editorial Opinion I read in the New York Times today regarding the detention of prisoners in Guantanamo Bay and the new Military Commisions Act of 2006 which President Bush just pushed through Congress.

New York Times Editorial: Guilty Until Confirmed Guilty
    Published: October 15, 2006
    Original Full Article: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/15/opinion/15sun1.html

[Recently,] President Bush [pushed] a bill on military commisions, [the Military Commissions Act of 2006], through congress and Republicans [praised it saying], it was a bill that would be tough on terrorists but preserve the essential principles of justice. [However], one of the many problems with the new law is that it will only make it harder than it already is to separate the real terrorists from the far larger group of inmates at Guantánamo Bay who were bit players in the Taliban or innocent bystanders.

[A]fter 9/11, President Bush and his administration tried to put the prisoners of the war on terror beyond the reach of American law and the Geneva Conventions. For starters, they dispensed with one of the vital provisions of the conventions: that prisoners must be screened by a “competent tribunal” if there is any doubt about who they are and what role they played in hostilities. As a result, hundreds of men captured in Afghanistan and other countries were sent to Guantánamo Bay and other prisons, including the network of illegal C.I.A. detention camps, without any attempt to determine whether they were any sort of combatant, legal or illegal.

The Bush administration showed not the slightest interest in fixing this problem until the Supreme Court said in Hamdi v. Rumsfeld that the president cannot simply lock up anyone — even a foreign citizen — without giving him a real chance to challenge his detention before a “neutral decision maker.”

In response, Mr. Bush created Combatant Status Review Tribunals, which gave the most cursory possible reviews of the Gitmo detainees. These reviews took place years after the prisoners were captured. They permitted the use of hearsay evidence, evidence obtained through coercion and even torture, and evidence that was kept secret from the prisoner. The normal burden of proof was reversed: the tribunals presumed prisoners were justifiably detained and the prisoners had the burden of disproving government evidence — presuming they knew what it was in the first place.

The Military Commissions Act of 2006 makes it virtually impossible to contest a status tribunal’s decision. It prohibits claims of habeas corpus — the ancient right of prisoners in just societies to have their detentions reviewed — or any case based directly or indirectly on the Geneva Conventions. Even if an appeal got to the single appeals court now authorized to hear it, the administration would very likely argue that it cannot be heard without jeopardizing secrets, as it has done repeatedly.

The new law dangerously expands the definition of illegal enemy combatant and allows Mr. Bush — and the secretary of defense — to give to anyone they choose the authority to designate a prisoner as an illegal combatant. It also allows Mr. Bush to go on squirreling prisoners away at secret C.I.A. camps where none of the rules apply.

Mr. Bush wants Americans to trust him to apply these powers only to truly dangerous men. Even if our system were based on that sort of personal power and not the rule of law, it would be hard to trust the judgment of a president and an administration whose records are so bad. The United States has yet to acknowledge that it kidnapped an innocent Canadian citizen and sent him to be abused in a Syrian prison. In another case, a German citizen has accused the United States of grabbing him off the streets of Macedonia, drugging him and sending him to Afghanistan, where he was brutally treated. Then there is the Ethiopian living in London who said he was grabbed by American agents and brutalized by Moroccan torturers until he confessed to plotting with Jose Padilla to set off a “dirty bomb.” Mr. Padilla was never charged with the crime. The Ethiopian remains at Guantánamo Bay.

Republicans who support the new law like to point out that it only covers foreigners. But Americans have never believed that human rights are just for Americans. Our nation is outraged when an authoritarian government jails an American, or one of its own citizens, on trumped-up charges and brings him or her before a phony court. Surely that is not the model we want to follow in our nation’s prisons.

Bravo to the NY Times. Beautiful, beautiful editorial.

I have long been against the illegal detention of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay without right to an attorney and without any kind of swift judicial process to either charge them with wrong doing or free them. They've been kept there for YEARS now. It's atrocious and completely scandalous for a country like us, built upon principles of freedom and a fair trial for all.

Sean you raise excellent points, however I did not want to go THAT in depth into the issue on my blog. :) I hope you found a place to get your hair cut! :) Sailor Callie you're welcome! :) Lorie Read or Die is a manga, anime series and an OAV which are all different but based on this woman who is a 'bibliophile' a lover of books in the *literal* sense. She *literally* loves books like the way you LOVE a human being - in the emotional AND sexual sense. She is an agent named Agent Paper who is able to control paper and tell whether books are origins, 1st editions etc. It's a very interesting series and different from anything I've read or seen before. It's odd and strange but very interesting. Give it a chance. :) Kayla yeah Vanilla candles are my favorite :) how're you? how's your weekend?

Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend! I'm going to watch my Netflix dvd of 'Vanity Fair' now :)

A beautiful Autumn October Day & The Issue of Nuclear Power & North Korea
    Sunday, October 15, 2006
    11:53 a.m.

Everyone knows I love summer best, but if it's a pleasant Autumn day where the leaves are red, orange, purple and gold, then I can't help but be happy that the seasons change and I get to witness such beauty.

I slept in till 9am this morning, got up and put my favorite chocolate-almond flavored coffee on to brew, got the newspaper from the driveway and read my favorite Sunday Comics. I'm on my 2nd cup of coffee now and finishing my buttered and jellied toast. I wish one of my sisters was home so I could go hiking in the woods and out to the dam on the lake - it's a beautiful day to go hiking but I never go alone so I'll wait till next weekend when all 3 are home for the twins' birthday :)

Last night, I was up till 11pm learning 6 of the 10 songs I'll be performing next Saturday night. Two of them I already know so I only need to learn the remaining 2 songs today and rehearse again and again Monday and Tuesday until real rehearsal with the band on Wednesday.

Been catching up on the news this morning and so much is being reported about the sanctions on North Korea because of its nuclear activity. Yesterday, the United Nations Security Council voted unanimously to impose strict sanctions on North Korea for its reported nuclear test. The imposed sanctions bar the sale or transfer of material that could be used to make nuclear, biological and chemical weapons or ballistic missiles, and bans international travel and freezes the overseas assets of people associated with North Korea's weapons programs. The resolution also authorizes all countries to inspect cargo going in and out of North Korea to detect illicit weapons.

Ambassador Pak Gil-yon of North Korea told the Council that his government “totally rejected” the resolution, and he accused the panel’s members of “gangster-like” action and a “double standards” attitude that neglected the nuclear threat posed by the United States. He said if the United States continued to “increase pressure” on North Korea, his government would consider it a declaration of war and take “critical countermeasures.” He then rose from his guest seat at the end of the horseshoe-shaped table and left.

The sanctions give the U.S. and Japan and all other countries of the Security Council the legal means to squeeze North Korea. The sanctions provide the basis to inspect ships in ports around the world — though not necessarily on the high seas — and gives the U.S. a way to expand a program to force banks to halt dealings with North Korea.

What the administration did not get was authority to use military force to stop ships in international waters. (THANK GOD!) In addition to the sanctions and search, the resolution demands that North Korea abandon its illicit weapons programs and rejoin the nonproliferation treaty, and it calls on the government to return to the so-called six-nation talks involving South Korea, Japan, China, Russia and the United States.

How I feel: North Korea should NOT have nuclear weapons, but at the same time, if a country feels threatened by other super-powers (like the U.S.), that country has a right to defend itself.

Here's why I don't think North Korea should have nuclear weapons: its ruler, Kim Jong-il, is a dictator who cares about his own survival. While his country is starving and poor, he buys Mercedes Benz cars, has the finest sushi flown in and lives a generally rich life. The average North Korean earns only a dollar or two a day. His reaction, as the man who presides over a communist nation, to when he perceives threats from the West, is to step up uranium enrichment and develop nuclear power. Instead of aiming to better relations with the world, he takes an offensive stand. Given his strained relations with South Korea, Japan and other nations in that region, as well as his strained relations with the U.S., there is no reason to trust that a man like him wouldn't order nuclear use or that his country wouldn't allow the sale of nuclear weapons to terrorists <--- this is the HUGEST factor.

However, North Korea does have nuclear weapons and Iran is suspect of developing them - why? Because BOTH countries have perceived threats of military force by the U.S. and the U.S. has given NO assurance that they won't attack the countries.

Internationally, especially to these smaller countries, the U.S. is perceived as a bully who wants to keep nuclear power in its own hands and only in the hands of its allies and anyone who is not a U.S. ally who develops nuclear power is a threat. Since the U.S. acted pre-emptively and unilaterally in attacking Iraq, other countries who are not assured allies of the U.S. fear the U.S. Without assurance from the U.S. that the U.S. won't attack them, they feel they have a right to defend themselves.

If the roles were reversed, and we, the U.S., felt threatened by another country, then we, too, would develop lines of defense against any future attack - and if the enemy possessed nuclear power, then by all means we, too, would develop it for the sake of self-defense.

    It only makes sense.

Until countries - big & small - can assure each other of peaceful co-existance, and I don't see that happening anytime soon - we're going to have battles over the building up of weapons and creation of nuclear power.

We've tried in the past to get ALL countries to cease the creation of nuclear power. We learned from WWII and the destruction of Japan that nuclear power is too great a power - too evil a power of destruction - in ANYONE's hands. Yet many of the biggest powers right now - including our own U.S. - still has nuclear power. NO ONE CAN TRUST ANYONE ELSE. That's why we still create and keep such a dangerous power.

Our leadership and diplomacy is ineffective at bridging the gap of fear and mistrust and creating understanding and peace between nations. As long as each country in our world sees themselves as a sovereign state free to do as it pleases, instead of as being one part of a whole and working for the good of the whole - there will never be TRUE peace for any of us.

*sigh* it's enough to make you throw up your hands and give up. What can we do? I honestly have no idea. This is a problem bigger than you and I and in all of human history, there is not one example of nations co-existing peacefully together forever. Sooner or later, human greed and selfishness rears its ugly head. I wonder if we are a doomed race, doomed to repeat our mistakes always.

I'm going to finish my coffee and spend the next couple hours rehearsing my songs. If there's one thing I know is that music is an outlet for the soul, for anger and sadness. When people hear songs and listen to beautiful music - for that brief moment, there is peace, love and happiness. Music brings people together. I'll focus on that for now.

Eye on Afghanistan & Human Rights Watch
    Saturday, October 14, 2006
    11:32 a.m.

As many of you know, I'm a proud supporter of Human Rights Watch and am an advocate for international human rights. Yesterday, I received one of my updates from HRW about Afghanistan and it was really saddening. In a world as rich as we are, in a country where millions and MILLIONS of dollars are poured into building sports stadiums, there are people who are homeless and dying on our streets and who are suffering internationally. It shames me sometimes to be talking about things as trivial as buying a pair of boots when I learn about suicide bombings and attacks on schools and teachers in troubled countries like Sudan and Afghanistan. People's basic rights aren't being protected. We are so fortunate to be living here in the United States where majority of us have the means and ability and opportunity to be educated, well-fed, clothed and sheltered, while in other countries, war lords, insurgents, and criminal groups use suicide bombs, guns, violence and extortion to terrorize innocent people.

According to HRW, "in Afghanistan, the Taliban has regrouped and is using violence to stop development in the country. People are prevented from going to work, reaching medical care, going to the market and attending school." Females, especially, are facing the worst of the discrimination and abuse and suffer the worst under this insecurity. "Violence against women and girls is rampant and authorities often fail to investigate or prosecute cases. Women are not free to travel without a male relative and a burqa. Women who're active in public life as political candidates, journalists, teachers or NGO workers, or who criticize local rulers, face threats and violence too." Afghan girls who want to be educated face dangers just to walk home from school. As a result, a majority simply stay home and that's why only 5% of the girls are beyond primary level education! Since 2005, at least "14 teachers and education officials have been assassinated and there have been more than 200 attacks on teachers, students and schools. The Ministry of Education now records nearly one attack every day. Schools are being closed because the buildings are being destroyed or because the teachers and students are too afraid to attend. This has a ripple affect causing schools in the surrounding area to shut down as well."

The world is quick to switch its attention from one matter to another. One minute, we'll be focusing on Sudan/Darfur and the next on Brad & Angelina's adventures in India. Meanwhile, the plight of human suffering goes on. That's why I love and support Human Rights Watch. It's a great organization because it has kept Afghanistan (and many other human rights issues and countries in turmoil) on the mind of the world. It played a significant role in pressuring the U.S. and its NATO allies in Afghanistan to help President Karzai rein in regional warlords and HRW successfully advocated for human rights spending to be incorporated in spending bills authorizing foreign assistance to Afghanistan.

"Afghanistan is one of the poorest countries on the planet and it will be years before its people can enjoy many of the rights you and I take for granted." According to HRW, "the international community has failed to provide sufficient financial assistance, and security assistance has been anemic and uncoordinated. NATO troop levels in Afghanistan are nowhere near the 40,000+ troops that NATO deployed in Kosovo which is 1/10th the side of Afghanistant and holds 1/10 of Afghanistan's population."

Afghans desire to move forward and want to be free from the rule of guns. They're just like you and me and they should be helped, just like WE would pray to be helped if we were in a similar situation. As people living in one of the richest countries in the world, a super power, it is our responsibility - like it, or not, to take a look around and realize that we're not alone on this planet - that one day, it could be US who needs help from a rich super power country whose people are seen as indifferent to the plight of the international community. I, for one, will help and do my best for innocent people who are suffering. I will not simply buy boots and go trick-or-treating as usual and turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to those who are suffering and need help - no way. Our ability to empthaize, to care, to be good-natured and loving - that's what being human is all about. It's what makes us different from animals. If we choose not to care, choose to ingore the plight of others, we're no better than animals who're selfish and only look after themselves.

If you're reading this, and can afford it, make a donation to HRW.ORG - they're non-profit and run by the donations they receive and contributions from its own members. If you can't afford it - then just visit HRW.ORG and read up on what they do. Go to CNN.COM and read up on Afghanistan and world news. Keep yourself aware and knowledgable about the world, its people and its problems. We live in a world that's connected in ways it's never been before. Our actions in this country - our economy, our media (tv shows, musicians etc) - reach globally. We're seen as rich and capable of doing so much MORE than what we do. And in truth, we can do a lot more. We're just lazy and indifferent and our big business interests - who have a lot more money - seem to alwas win out. It's one of the bad vices about humanity. Being good and helpful - that requires will, good will. I hope we all have it in us.

    10:19 p.m.

    sleepy. so sleepy.

I just bought a beautiful pair of black leather boots from Newport News for only $29! I had lost my favorite pair EVER (also $29 but from DSW at the time) when I put them in a plastic bag to carry home on the train and then left them on the train and they never showed up in the lost & found :( Now I found almost the same look-a-like pair for the same price and I'm a happy girl :) Similar shoes would've cost me anywhere from $80 to $150 elsewhere. So not worth the price!

I'm getting into bed. It's SO COLD right now and my fingers are all frozen. I hate the cold.

And I changed my 10-song set to all covers because my original songs from the cd aren't charted and I don't want any problems with the music's sound 1.5 weeks away from the gig.

    Yaaay yaaayy yaaay yaaay :D

I worked out for almost 2 hours tonight, took a long shower and had a yummy dinner! :) I'm so ready to just chill and relax now. Think I'll light candles again tonight and make some hot chocolate and watch the dvd of 'Read or Die' my friend Mark gave me. See ya'll later :)

    09:40 p.m.

    I need a manager.

I need a manager like I need air.

Anyone reading this know a good manager for a singer? Namely me?

I had such stress-filled day because of band-related issues. I can't go into it on here but GOD my head's been aching ALL DAY.

This is why I like acoustic gigs - just me and a friend (on the guitar or piano) singing my songs. No worries about band members, payment, rehearsal studios and times....

A singer really, REALLY, shouldn't have to stress or worry about her musicians. He/She should just focus on her vocals and doing a beautiful vocal performance.

I need a manager and regular musicians.

Ah, but I need a lot of money for that cause it's not like they come free.

I don't have a lot of money like that.

    Ergo, the stress and problems.

Life would be better if I were rich.

So yeah - manager? Anyone? Must be willing to work for the love of the music and love my music and have faith in my ability to be a star.

    That about sums it up.

I'm in quite a sarcastic and lovely mood tonight. I'm gonna take a long warm shower and relax. Tomorrow will be a much better day. And if it's not, I'll probably kick someone in the face. :D Have a great night everyone!

    10:47 p.m.

gosh my legs ache! I spent 6 hours today from 2pm to 8pm completely autumn-ing up my wardrobe. Swept and cleaned the whole upstairs too! My closets look all pretty now and I feel very accomplished! :) I put up all my long-sleeved shirts, dress shirts, light fall sweaters, all my fall pants and fall skirts in my bedroom closet and put up all my coats and jackets in my sisters' bedroom closet (a perk of not having them live at home! ;)). Folded and put away all my summer tops, camis and dresses, but I kept ONE big drawer full of my prettiest clubby tops and camis to wear out at night and kept my best year-round dresses up in the closets. I left all my heavy sweaters in the suitcase though - those will come out near Thanksgiving weekend.

I just took a warm shower and used this new Herbal Essences Hello Hydration shampoo + conditioner in one. I generally use Thermasilk shampoo and conditioner for every day use, but if I'm home for the day or showering at night after my workout, I use a 2 in 1 from Garnier Fructis because it's gentler for the hair. But now I LOVE this Herbal Essence one because it's just as good as Fructis but comes in this 'Coconut and Orchid' aroma and it smells DELICIOUS - my hair smells so pretty! :)

Did you guys see the moon out tonight? It's a golden yellow right now - stunning! Just had dinner (chappati with this cauliflower thing mum made) and I'm lotioning up and putting this eye cream on. I'm all ready to go to bed and am gonna call and talk to my Ricky now.

Had such a nice weekend and I'm SOOOOOOOOOO happy we get tomorrow off - Columbus Day!! I was just thinking how sucky it would be to go to work tomorrow considering how much cleaning and stress-work I did this weekend. But tomorrow's a day off and it's gonna be 79 degrees and I'm spending it here at home, jogging outside and soaking in the last warm day of autumn! Today was beautiful too in the 70's.....I love warm weather.

Hope you're all having a fabulous Columbus Day weekend!

Azure Kaze thanks for that link! I'll check them out - they sound like an indie artist's best friend! ;) Tabitha awwww that's awesome!!! I can't wait to see you and to see Matt for the 1st time! :) Susan awww thank you!! :) *HUGS* Actually, I planned it so I stood in order to sing 2 songs and the other 3 I sat down for :) The videos I guess make it look like I stood up as I got into the song, but that's not the case - I was standing for certain songs and sitting for others. But thank you! I'm so glad you loved them!!! :) Jade LOL! thank you!!! :) Sean dude where YOU been ;) I've been doing gigs since last November ;) I really TOTALLY mean to put UM back up I just haven't gotten around to hooking my old computer up and transferring the files again. It's a super long task and I dred doing it. I'm glad ur enjoying college - some of the best years of my life were at college :) Caroline I can't wait either!! It should be out in mid to end November! :) Dan LOL! thank you Dan!! :) ML LOLLLLLLLL you're way too funny! :) thank you very much! I've made a 10-song list of what I'd like to perform at the 10/21 gig - it's a little over 2 weeks away!! If I do all 10 songs, it'll be 5 of my originals off my cd and 5 of my favorite cover songs from 5 different artists/bands. After rehearsal I may knock it down to 7 or 8 songs though....I'm having the band put together now - cannot WAIT to rehearse with them! :)

Just now I tested out my vocals on my own songs 'Story' and 'Nightingale's Song' from my cd and dude - my vocals are so much better NOW than a year ago when I recorded them. I *was* sick/getting over being sick when I recorded them and sang a lot softer and higher back then.....that frustrates me because I wanted to showcase my voice and while it sounded pretty - I can sing those songs a helluva lot better NOW. I'm gonna do my songs the justice they deserve LIVE at the Oct. 21 show and one day when I can afford it again, I'll re-do the vocals on them and make a new cd. Those songs are GORGEOUS and can be AMAZING with my better vocals.

I'm gonna do it! Watch me sing people - I'm gonna do this because I choose to...because I love my songs and I love music and I love to sing. When I write songs, when I feel the melody and music take form and shape in my head and when the melodies flow from my throat - I feel so fucking alive. Music...song...it's my passion - I was *MEANT* to do something with it.

I'm listening to one of my all time fave bands now - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani California - that song just sinks into my skin and makes me feel good all over. Love it.

Evening folks :) I have awesome news!!! I'm going to be a featured Asian artist in Asian Woman Magazine! :) I got contacted by this amazing woman on MySpace who's the the features editor for the mag and who asked me to send bio and photos for the feature! WOO HOO!!! :) Of course I did that - at 7:30 this morning! Wasted no time! :DDD Was up early because my folks, sisters and I all got back after midnight from visiting our relatives upstate - we had a prayer meeting at my uncle's house in memorial of my maternal grandfather who died in 2003. It was really good to see all my relatives - my cousins have all grown up SO much! And even though we came back so late, I couldn't sleep a wink - I need new pillows - my neck keeps hurting.

Anywayz, 2 of my little sisters just left to go back to their apartments and now it's just my other younger sister and I who're gonna watch Desperate Housewives tonight and do our nails. The fam ordered pizza tonight - was soooooooooo freakin good. Ok I'm out. Thank you everyone for your comments on the videos!! *HUGS* Hope you all had a GREAT weekend!!

WAII!! Thank you Keisuke for answering my request and enduring so much of the color pink! :) LOL! I spent so much of this weekend trying to find a good ribon or nakayoshi site that lists the stories running in, and furoku in, the latest issues - and could barely find anything. After a lot of searching, and for you dear readers if you love good shoujo manga as I do, here's what I found:

These stories are running in the August Issue of Ribon:

    Danicing Baby Karin
    Love Berisshi!
    Taranta Ranta
    Gentlemen's Alliance
    Alice kara Mahou
    Hoikuen e Ikou!
    Rokkin ★ Heaven
    Loose Life
    AoiSora Pop
    ZippZipp☆Byuun!
    ChocoMimi
    Kiichigo Cafe
    Niji Iro KoiRyokan

These stories are running in the October Issue of Nakayoshi:

    Kamichama Karin Chuu
    Orange Planet
    Suger Sugar Rune
    Hell Girl
    MamaColle
    Juicy Fruits
    Futari wa PreCure Splash☆Star
    Wankorobee

    ShuChara
    Modotte! Mamotte! Lollipop

    School Fight
    Kitchen Princess
    ChaMamori

NANA is running in COOKIE and Fujii Mihona's new series 'Tokyo Angels' is running in MARGARET and KIRARIN REVOLUTION is running in CIAO!!! :):):)

For anyone that may have been searching, hope that helps! :)

I watched HEROES tonight and it was SOOOOOOOOOO good!! :) But then my Ricky called and I totally missed what happened with that blonde chick who was being harrassed by the mom (harrassed being the nice way to put it). Heroes is about a group of people who are an evolved form of humanity. Can't wait to see where this goes - I've been waiting and WAITING for something as great as X-Files and Roswell to come along. Got it :)

I heard back from one of the entertainment attorneys I'd contacted for help with that contract I'd been given by a small hip-hop production-label. TONS of problems with it. And I don't think it'll go forward unless the label is willing to compromise and give up on a lot. Who knows. I'll wait to hear back but already I'm thinking it's for the best. If this was to work out, I wouldn't have felt so worried from the start. In my gut, I don't feel good about it anymore.

Met another sweetheart from the matrimonial ads tonight - and just like the sweetheart who came to my show last Thursday - both were great guys - but I just didn't see or feel the magic.....I wrote as best an email I could to the sweet guy who came to my show and I'm sure I hurt his feelings :( THIS IS AWFUL. I HATE doing this to some poor nice guy! GOD. The guy tonight was alright - he was even kinda cute - but I just didn't feel it. *sigh* I had no idea I was such a tough chick to win over. But then again, it figures. Ricky had to pursue me like nuts to win me over. Didn't hurt that he was gorgeous and sexy as hell and had a personality of fire that went well with mine. DAMMIT i wish he was ready to marry me! *double sigh* When I txted him tonight that I had met with one of the guys he txted back 'oh no...I'm worried' and I txted back 'u should be!' :) LOL! I cracked up after I sent it, knowing he'd be going 'WHAT!???' and so txted back a while later 'mwah - just playing' :) I know he's waiting to hear the details ;)

Marcia aww thank you!!! *HUGS* Your mascot was the coyote? how cool is that! :) Lorie I think Lobo means wolf? :) *HUGS* Susan LOL! doing 'gigs' as a career IS the plan ;) It's what I say on my sites all the time - just waiting for the day I can leave law as a daily practice behind and make music my full-time career....well, along with writing ;) Millie where in CA? I hope to move out there one day. My inspiration for writing comes from dreams mostly, but sometimes - like with children's stories, it comes from every day experiences with nature and life. I write a LOT of stories around halloween ;) Jade LOL! so many ppl said that to me at work when I told them the story :)

I'm off to have a later supper and go to bed. Good night all!

coyote sighting in my backyard in New Rochelle & the start of early Autumn
    Sunday, September 24, 2006
    1:47 p.m.

Early yesterday, Saturday morning, i woke up around 7am and saw this dog-like creature crossing my neighbor's property into my family's. It stopped for a while in my backyard before going into the woods behind my home. I thought it was strange because no dog I know would venture into the woods the way that animal did and it just didn't look exactly like a dog......as I watched it enter the woods, instinct told me it was not a dog. When I came down for breakfast, I told my dad what I'd seen and 10 minutes later, my dad and I saw it again. We wondered what it was doing because it was looking around for something. My dad thought it was a fox because of its bushy tail. It disappeared into the woods again and we thought that was it.

Well, we have a lot of groundhogs in our area. A family of groundhogs, according to my mom, live underneath our deck. I had seen 2 of them already that morning - one that was all over the grounds of our property and the other hiding under the deck. So, a while later, as both my parents and I were breakfasting, we saw the dog-like creature again and this time it held a groundhog in its mouth and was carrying it back into the woods. My mom was happy about it because those groundhogs had ruined vegetable gardens. I was aghast cause the groundhogs were SO CUTE! My dad told me about stories from when he was a child and foxes raided the chicken coops of his family home.

For some reason, I wasn't convinced as to what exactly it was - I wondered if it might be a WOLF and wanted to know more about the wild animals living in our woods. Until yesterday, I had NO IDEA such wild animals as this were in the woods - I go into the woods with my sisters a lot to hike and explore. Now I'm a little wary....so when I went online, I found pictures of what grey foxes, grey wolves and coyotes looked like. And lo' and behold - what we saw was actually a COYOTE! A coyote here in New Rochelle. I actually live on the Larchmont - New Rochelle border and so it may have been a coyote in Larchmont ;)

This is a picture of a groundhog which looks just like the cuties under our deck.

For the rest of the morning I was one excited Nishi. I couldn't stop talking about coyotes. I drove my mom nuts talking about them. LOL!

I've been looking again all today hoping to see it again, but haven't. Yesterday morning was all cloudy/half-rainy and I'm guessing it came out because no humans were around. Today started out so gorgeous - bright, sunny and beautiful and 80 degrees. I woke up at 11am (slept in nice and late) and had breakfast out on my deck. Didn't see the groundhogs either. It's gotten overcast and extremely windy now and the temp's dropped to 78. I think this'll be the last really warm day of the season. The rest of the week should be only as high as 72 and it will really feel like the 60's. Autumn started on Friday I think. It's a really beautiful early autumn day. If it doesn't rain or thunderstorm as forecasted, I just want to stay outside and watch the woods and the lake. My parents built this home in 2002 and we moved in in 2003. We had lived in New Ro when we first came to the states in 1982 but then had moved upstate to Putnam County in '87. We moved back to New Ro in 2003 and I thought we'd left the wild creatures far behind us - even there, in the woods of Patterson/Carmel all we saw were deer, wild geese, wild turkey and ducks and large turtles or snakes. There were bear sightings on a RARE occasion which we heard of and never saw. But never wolves or foxes or coyotes.

Our current home was built, once again, right next to expansive woods and a beautiful enormous lake. My sisters and I have walked upon the dam of this lake and explored the woods - covered with hiking trails - and it's just a beautiful experience. I wrote recently how in August my sister Mekha and I met a man playing the bagpipes on the dam.

I just put a load of laundry in and am drinking a glass of water with fresh lemon slices in it. I watched all the way to episode 38 of Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch on YouTube and gave up at 11pm last night when the episodes stopped having subtitles. I want to watch more!! *SOB*

I have a beautiful Sunday to relax and do whatever I want and I have no idea what. Well...if it wasn't so scared, I'd go into the woods with a camera and try to take a picture of the coyote! That's what! :) But there's no way in heck I'm going alone. Coyotes won't attack humans unless they feel threatened - they're scared of us too. If you see a wild animal like a wolf or coyote you're supposed to walk away from it slowly and NEVER FEED IT or try to approach it! Wild animals will stay away from humans as long as they don't associate humans with food. If we leave food out for them or try to feed them, they'll lose their fear of us.

Oh no! It's started raining! Dangit! But gosh is it pretty. The trees are blowing like crazy......

I'm in the mood to write. I've been writing a ton of different books for the past 15 years - 1 fantasy adventure series, 1 Indian historical fictional romance book, another fantasy adventure novel, and a bunch of children's fantasy books about faeries and gnomes and wood creatures. I love forests.....now that it's all grey and rainy, perfect lighting and weather to sit here at my desk and write something about that coyote or the groundhog family. I think I'll leave out the part where the coyote killed one of the groundhogs.....

Hope everyone out there is having as nice a weekend as I am. *HUGS* to all!

Sarah Beth I'm hoping to have my video performance up on NishiMusic.com this week. Maybe by Thursday or Friday? Next weekend latest! :) Kayla No I never heard of that play. I'll look it up - you're playing Ms. Ames huh? :) When does it go on?

    07:41 p.m.

hi everyone!! :) I wish you guys could've seen me LIVE last night cause my friend Rob and I rocked 169 Bar!! :) Our song set was EXCELLENT. My vocals were great and Rob was awesome on the guitar! My friends came out and I had the BEST time! I got invited to perform there again and I totally will! I'm REALLLLLLYYYY happy with my performance last night - everything was perfect the whole way through!! :D :D :D YAHOOOOOOOO :D

My friend Kerri took a video of the WHOLE show and will be uploading it and then splicing it for me song by song so as soon as that's all set, I'll upload it to YouTube and post it on here, on MySpace and more on NishiMusic.com and you guys can check 'em all out and see what I sound and look like LIVE! :D

Sooooooooooooooo HAPPY about last night :) :) :)

NOTE TO EVERYONE WHO LEAVES ME MSGS ON THE TAG-BOARD because of repeated spamming by some a$$hole - I've limited posting times to once every 9 hours. So if you mess up a message, you won't be able to post again until 9 hours later. Some prick who visits this page is having fun spamming me and cloaking their IP address so unfortunately, I have to take a measure that affects EVERYONE's ability to leave me msgs.

Anywayz, still VERY HAPPY ABOUT LAST NIGHT :D :D :D

ML well, thank you! I did do well. And I think I *shall* enjoy some MMPPP. :) Have a great night.

I'm off to have dinner and enjoy my FRIDAY NIGHT! SOOO sleepy - didn't get home till 1:30 and went to bed after 2am. Ciao people.

    09:25 p.m.

gosh what a lonnnggggg but productive day. I think I actually DO need coffee in the morning to not be so sleepy so early at night. Or maybe it's normal that I felt sleepy on the 7pm train home tonight? Or maybe I just need to sleep at 10pm like old people.

    *shudder*

I went to bed at midnight last night - stayed up to watch STUDIO 60 and it was FANTASTIC!! SOOOOOOO lookin' fwd to next week's ep. Matthew Perry ROCKED and good lord Amanda Peet talks FAST on that show - I missed 1/2 her funny witticisms. I like her hair better down.

Rehearsed with Rob again tonight till 6:30 almost, then called it a night cause my vocals started getting tired. Came home and my mom had made soo much delicious food - stuffed my face while we watched the news about that baby that was stolen - it's been safely found - but that woman who stole her from the mom (slashing the mom's throat in the home) is still on the loose. Hope she's found soon. A woman like that shouldn't be on the streets. She came right up to the mom in her home, asked to use the phone and slashed her throat and took her baby. JEEZ. Just reminds you that the world isn't always a safe place and that there are some real whack jobs out there. My dad then felt it his job to tell my mom and me that if anyone knocks on the door to use the phone - even if their car broke down or whatever - tell them no. LOL! YES SIR ! :)

I just ran through my song set again. Some of my songs are a little tricky with the words and rhymes and it's easy to say the wrong line. I'll do another run through before I go to bed but right now - I'm gonna watch me some Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE :D

Kayla awwwww you're so cute *HUGS* whenever you DO come to NYC and if I'm still here - let me know and we'll totally hang!! :) ML thank you very much! Did you catch Stuidio 60?

I'm out folks. I have court tomorrow in Brooklyn. Should be fun. Have a great night!

    9: 38 p.m.

yaaaayyy I'm so excited! I got a new gig at Alphabet Lounge for 10/21! :) WOO HOO! For that gig I'm gonna see if I can get a band and this time I'll actually do 5 songs from my cd. Now the hard part is finding great musicians willing to play for me! ;) I need to find a lead guitarist, bass, drummer and keyboardist in less than a month and have them learn my songs and rehearse with them. Ooooh lord, this could be a lot of fun or a HUGE headache.

Lydia *adjusts my voice into a high incredulosity* really? cell-phones have 3-way? NOOOOO! (/end incredulosity) HEL-LO I'm a tech-lover - I knowwwwwwww that :P but thank you for your daily dose of sarcastic wit ;) mind if I strangle you now? ;)

    I love my friends :)

I just had a yummy dinner of my mom's delicious fish curry with 2 pieces of lightly toasted bread. MMMMM SO DEEEE-LISH! Rehearsed after work with Rob - we've got 7 sure songs. The 7th is in case we get asked to do 1 more song. Now I have the job of figuring out which 6 songs we're gonna do. Yeesh.

Ok people I'm reminding you that IF YOU'RE IN NYC THIS THURSDAY NIGHT 9/21 - come see me SING!!! :) Go to http://www.nishimusic.com for details on the performance.

I got home in time tonight, by the way, to watch THE CLASS! It really DID remind me of Friends - same kind of acting style, same good wit and humour. Was funny and original. Totally enjoyed it. But I still miss Friends. I'm REALLY looking fwd to STUDIO 60 though tonight - premiering at 10pm on NBC.

    Alrighties, I'm outtie. See ya'll laters! :)

    10:34 p.m.

rehearsal went fabulously today! although I came home and found a song I wrote this June called 'In Your Hands' that I think I want to add to the list in place of another song that might not work....we'll see.

my foot still hurts. argh! i'm only able to really walk on it as long as I wear sneakers. Regular shoes hurt. Flip flops hurt. Yeah I'm gonna have a great time explaining why I need to wear sneakers at work tomorrow. They have this clothes policy and sneakers are, of course, not allowed.

ML I already got MMPPP #2 and also got GALS 7! Love both and am on ep. 14 of MMPPP on YouTube.

I just signed up with my own musician's account on youtube so I can upload videos of my performances and then paste them anywhere I want! WOO HOO! :D

Saaarraaahhh betthhhhh it was SOOOO nice catching up with you last Sunday over the phone. We need to make our phone chats regular events! Heyyyy ya knowww...if we got like 3-way calling we could dial in Lisa and Lydia!!!! :D

It's 10:30 and I just got out of the shower and need to put on a creamy lotion and have a light supper and head to bed. Have a great night everyone!

    10:13 p.m.

go to http://www.myspace.com/nirajchag and listen to the samples of the music titled 'Khwaab' and 'Sajana' - this guy is an Indian hindi music composer and producer and he's AWESOME! Gorgeous hindi music :)

went to the city today and got introduced to Stuyvesant town (a neighborhood of Manhattan down by Avenue A and 14th Street). My friend Rob who'll be my guitarist on Thursday lives there - such a fun place! We rehearsed for 2 and 1/2 hours outside on this huge lawn next to this gorgeous & huge water fountain. There were people in their bikinis!! Such a warm day - was near 80. We narrowed my song list down to the final 6 songs! :) Going to rehearse those songs SO well tomorrow and perfect them on Monday and Tuesday and for a final run through on Wednesday. Can't wait for Thursday!!! :)

I've been drinking water with airborne tablets dissolved in them because I felt like i was getting sick and was losing my voice during rehearsal. No way in HECK. Airborne works wonders - no joke!

I hurt my foot. And it hurts a lot. Last night as I came up from the Times Square shuttle into Grand Central, the floors were all wet and I slipped and hurt my left foot. I have it bandaged up now. I can walk on it - but it hurts a lot. :(

I hope it heals before Thursday. I'm elevating it as we speak. I'm watching Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch episodes on YouTube.com!! :D FINALLY!!! I love the series!! Watching ep. 7 now.

Marcia LOL! there is ALWAYS room for a slice of cake ;) my fave dunkin donuts are either the glazed ones or the chocolate covered ones with the cream filling :D MMMMMMMM :) Susan hi there :) thank u so much! How's it going with teaching ur daughter? :) I have no idea what I'll be wearing yet - I'm more focused on perfecting the songs right now ;) I'm sure one or more of my friends will be taking pictures and/or recording the performance so I'll have something up! :) I'm still waiting for the dvd of my performance in July for my church! Jade poor Pluto! It's still a planet - a "dwarf planet" that is - it's just not recognized as a true planet as defined by the standards applied to Mercuty, Venus, Mars, Earth etc. As for Sailor Pluto - she would still be the senshi of Pluto - a dwarf planet. Nothing changes there. :) There are other senshi who don't belong to planets - for example Sailor Ceres - Ceres is actually an asteroid! :) As for our real world - I do agree with the scientific judgment that Pluto is not a true planet - it's more part of the Kuiper belt of objects all similar in size and shape as Pluto. I can't remember exactly but I think there was once a planet that belonged in the area known as the Kuiper belt which somehow shattered and resulted in all those asteroids and planet-like objects in that area. Not sure but I'm too lazy to look it up right now ;) I'll follow up on it another time and tell u for sure! :) Suni thanks for the link! I love her music!! :) I love finding other artists like that!

Alright guys I'm out. See ya'll laters.

    10:54 p.m.

whew! finally! I'm sitting down to dinner! finished another 90 minute workout at 10:15 p.m. and felt like I'd earned the right in my hot shower tonight to indulge in this dolce & gabbanna body wash that came with the perfume I got my mom for her b-day this past January. I *love* that body wash (and the perfume too!) :) My skin smells all pretty now :D hahahaha love it :)

My mom made delicious chicken curry and this cucumber thingamajig that I've put all on top of white rice and am having a huge navel orange for dessert. Good dinner! :) Especially since during the day today the girls in the motions department and I brought in donuts, cookies and brownies and candy in honour of the fact that it was 2 of the girls' birthdays today and Saturday. I loaded up on 3 brownies, 1 glazed dunkin-donut, 1 large oatmeal raisin cookie that was 160 calories man! For one!! Entemann's mind u! Not to mention hot chocolate, coffee oh and I was semi healthy with a banana and an apple too ;)

Didn't get home till 8 tonight because I was rehearsing with Rob after work. We have rehearsal again every day until our show next Thursday. I'm really excited about the gig! So many of my friends are coming! :D

Almost 11:30 pm now and I need to lotion up, print & cut flyers to give out to friends tomorrow at work and then finally head to sleep. No time to respond to msgs now - see ya'll tomorrow night and will respond then! :)

    10:19 p.m.

good evening all u fabulous people out there! :) I am sooooooooo relaxed right nowwwwww. I worked out for 90 minutes tonight doing an intense incline workout on the treadmill for an hour followed by 400 reps in total of 8 different types of ab crunches to tone my entire stomach and then a brutal push up and dips set to work my arms. I just had a super hot shower and I feel SO GOOD :D

Watched Kirarin Revolution's 2nd ep tonight and it was freakin funny! :) She reminds me a little bit of Sana-chan from Kodocha! :D Also watched Mamotte Lollipop and I like that too!!! Had a really nice day at work and at lunch my friends & I went outside to this outdoor cafe area where a live Beatles-band was playing gorgeous Beatles cover songs - songs I never ever heard before. The band was awesome and it inspired me to go look up more Beatles music to find those songs I loved.

10:30 at night - just finished gabbing with 2 of my little sisters on the phone - the 3rd one already went to sleep - so early!! I'm gonna paint my nails, have a late supper, watch some more anime, make some phone calls and go to sleep. Didn't rehearse with my guitarist today after work cause I forgot the song sheets. Ha ha ha. I have them in front of me right now and no way in heck I'm forgetting them for tomorrow - we're definitely rehearsing tomorrow!! :)

Okies I'm out! See ya'll laters!

    06:45a.m.

The alarm jarred me awake at 6am today and I was having some dream about an indian movie or music video and the alarm made all the movie/music credits come crashing down on the screen. :)

It was still so dark at 6am....I was reminded of when I used to get up for high school at 5:30 every morning....it would still be dark out and it felt nice to be able to hide out from the start of ur day because it was still dark. All I could think was 'wish I could stay home' but no point in that - gotta make money and almost everyone I know & love goes to work and I like my work....but ur first feelings are always to stay in bed and not face any potential stressors.

Jackie thank you for the link! I found the 1st episode of Kirarin Revolution and LOVE IT!! :D Callie no - like with everything on pitas - u need to know html in order to do anything with your page other than basic posting of entries. YouTube gives u code to put into your myspace or blog or whatever. Jade *HUGGGGGGGGGGGG* thank you!!!! :) How was your weekend? ML actually I love to find Orion's Belt when it's in the sky :) But yeah the Big or Little Dipper are my faves as well :) Azure Kaze *HUGS* hope u had a fabulous weekend!! :)

I've been writing for over 15 minutes now and gotta start my shower and day. See ya'll home tonight. I'm rehearsing with my guitarist tonight and then gonns work out good and then I'm soooo gonna watch the 2nd ep of Kirarin Revolution and more Uta-Kata I found on YouTube! :) And hopefully squeeze in a talk with Rickers tonight. ya know - they should make Sept. 11 a memorial holiday - a day we can actually do an observance for the tragedy - i remember the last couple years they've held really beautiful speeches and ceremonies and this year marks the 5 year anniversary. So many people grieve and are emotional on that day. It should be made a federal holiday like Memorial Day or Labor Day with a rememberance ceremony.

almost 11:30 a.m. here and it's gorgoeus and sunny although a little chilly - just 71 degrees ;) Yes I think that's chilly now! :) I need to clean my room and mop the wood floor and clean the bathroom and then I think I'll go jogging outside.

It's still the WEEKENDDDDDDDD! I wish I lived near the beach. *sob* I wanna be back in So.Cal.

mmmm tootsie rolls are so good :) *chews away happily* the moon was out when I went on the deck and it was so peaceful looking up at it and enjoying the dark night. It was actually chilly even though my desktop weather software says it's 70 out!

Just got the new TokyoPop manga magazine and saw SOOOOOO many new manga I've gotta get! I'm excited for the new release of Jim Henson's RETURN TO LABYRINTH - I bet Lisa/Beezer would love this one! :) Totally looking fwd to Re:Play by Christy Lijewski - cool shoujo manga about a punk rock band - as well as Anima, Ark Angels, Saiyuki, Shrine of the Morning Mist, Moon Phase, Vampire Game, Arcana, Vampire Doll, Kamichama Karin, Never Give up, Culdcept, A Midnight Opera, Grenadier, The Good Witch of the West, Queen's Knight, Cross, Platinum Garden, Afterlife, RG Veda, Ultra Cute, Chibi Vampire, Elemental Gelade, My Cat Loki, Peppermint, Because I'm the Goddess, Bird Kiss, Angel Cup, Rebirth, Genju no Seiza, Little Queen, Nosatsu Junkie, Priceless, Magical Miracle, Soul Rescue, Dazzle, Sequence, Pita Ten, Saver, Scrapped Princess and Yubisaki Milk Tea. Whew that's a lotta manga I gotta get. I love, love, LOVE manga.

I slept for 3+ hours this evening and now am so un-sleepy. Rob and I had a great rehearsal and will rehearse again Monday. I gotta spend tomorrow really vocally perfecting the songs and figuring out which additional ones we can do. Time for my nightly talk with rickers. See ya'll tomorrow!

*sigh* it's, I think, the last real summer night....it's 70 degrees...I have the windows open and can hear the crickets going crazy out there - sounds totally beautiful.....I don't want summer to end....I don't even have the ceiling fan turning cause I just wanna enjoy a last warm summer night. I think I'll go out on the deck and enjoy looking at the stars while it's still this warm out.

    11:44 a.m.

gooood morning. I just had a huge breakfast of cereal, buttered toast and a poached egg and am now preparing songs for a run through with my friend Rob who's coming over at noon today to my house to begin rehearsal for our gig on 9/21. We began rehearsing yesterday after work and there were so many songs I wanted to do! :) LOL! Narrowing it down to the best 5-6 is gonna be HARD.

it's a GORGEOUS late summer day here today. 78 degrees with a high of 85. Gosh I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE summer. I hate when the weather gets chilly and cold - although I love fall and winter fashions! ;) hahahaha :)

Maybe we can rehearse outside? I'd hate to be cooped up inside the basement for this lovely afternoon! Tomorrow will only be 72 :( and Monday? 65! *SOB* :( I wish I lived in sunny southern california in L.A. or Laguna Beach where it'll stay in the 70s and 80's at least until late October. One day dangit! One day!!

    Words I live by:
Man is never so tall as when he kneels before God - never so great as when he humbles himself before God. And the man who kneels to God can stand up to anything. -Louis H. Evans

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. - Eleanor Roosevelt

"All human wisdom is contained in these two words: wait and hope." - The Count of Monte Cristo

"The winds of God are always blowing but it is up to you to set the sails." - UNKNOWN

"The only dream worth having, I told her, is to dream that you will live while you're alive and die only when you're dead. [Which means:] To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget." - Arundhati Roy

"He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
